Best Defensive Team

Kingsport Dobyns Bennett has the #1 Defensive team in Upper East Tennessee without question. The Indians throw a full court press on opponents that give guards nightmares and coaches grey hair.

Last 15 games, DB is allowing an average of 47.26 PPG. Only 6 opponents in that span have even scored 50 or more. Not one opponent in the last 15 games has reached 60 points total in the entire game!! Those are stats that cannot be matched or questioned.

Indians do it with full court press and a half court D that makes it hard to get even a close look at an open 3. Forget about going inside, Jarrod Wootten is sending back more shots than a Nurse in Flu season!! Wootten has got to average 5 blocks per game, if not more. Azmar Blye scares little point guards to death. Azmar screams at them, he tells 'em their scared in the game, he knows it and they show it.

My vote for best D in (at least Upper East TN) is Kingsport Dobyns Bennett. If you would like confirmation, ask our last 15 opponents which includes among others... Science Hill, Cave Springs Va. (Defending VA AA State Champ), Chatt. Brainerd,Urspring Germany, Greeneville, and then the rest of District 1 AAA.

Roll Tribe Roll #1 ;)

Well, Red Boiling Springs has held their opponents to an average of 49.56 points per game, and that's also impressive for a single A team. They have a record of 20-3, one of the hottest teams in the state, not losing since December 28th. They can kill you with their quick 2-2-1 press. Don't count them out on defense.

Although I hadn't seen them since they played Ezell-Harding for the state championship a few years ago, I'd go with Temple. They dictate tempo and that, along with rebounding, is the way you win games.

I suppose D-B's pretty tough defensively, but Morristown East held Greeneville to 62 points and I consider East a marginal defensive team.

I'd say that Science Hill is still a great defensive team. I haven't seen a Poe-coached team play yet, but I remember watching some of Pitts' teams in the 90s and they were on you like gnats...cat-quick and just down-right irritating to the guys they guarded.

I think what shows the mark of a good defender is when the other guy gets frustrated and gets off his game. So it sounds like D-B's Azmar, though a little mouthy it seems like, does a good job of getting his man out of sync.
