A 7 point win for Moore Co .Anybody,s game. Missed freethrows and too many turnovers at the end. Plus Moore Co is a great team. Good luck the rest of the way. The best I can do on past results is the following:

Since the TSSAA went to 3 classifications back in 1976 here is what I found:

In 1A there has been 2 champions:

1987 Greenback 33-2

1994 Oneida 31-4

In 2A there has 2 champions, multiple victories:

1987 33-2, 1988 38-1, 1991 34-3, 1992 37-0 South Greene

1993 37-1, 1995 37-1 Meigs Co I believe Misty Greene and a GA girl played then

In 3A there has also been 2 champions, one with multiple victories:

1988 37-0, 1994 33-4, 1997 33-3 Oak Ridge

2002 Sevier County 34-4

NOT MANY CHAMPS FROM THE EAST CONSIDERING!!

Not including Grace Academy out of Chattanooga which advanced to the finals in 2001 after beating Oneida 53-34 and Celina 63-57 you have to go ALL the way back to 1999.

In 2002, Oneida lost to Peabody and Cloudland lost to ??

In 2001, Hampton lost to Wayne Co and Oneida lost to Grace

In 2000, I know Wayne Co downed Oneida in OT and Hampton lost

In 1999, Bradford hammered N Greene and HANCOCK beat Gordonsville 66-61

In 1998, Oneida fell to Celina and Hampton fell to Bradford

The last time a Knoxville/Tri-Cities area team advanced past the semi'sand didn't win--actually the only two times were in 1986 with Greenback and in 1978 with Maryville

Porter.

So...that mean's since 1976

2 class A teams have won--Oneida and Greenback

2 Class A have finished runner-up---Greenback and Mary Port

*That really isn't ALL that good is it???

Answer, I would have to disagree with you. Any team that makes it to the state tournament is a legitmate good team. And, truthfully, there isn't too many state tournaments that I have watched that the Champion is that much better than the 8th best team in the tournament. They are usually all too close to call.

Secondly, one reason that teams from the east may not win as often as teams around the middle area is just simply distance. I mean a 2 hour drive for one team and a 5 and 1/2 drive for another team can create a sort of home court advantage. This definately factors in. But, thats just the fact of it.

Another thing most of the schools around the east are located in very small areas and have low populations. Alot of schools in the west have a high population to pull from and many are academies or have choices to go to other schools. Plus in 1A ball there is a whole lot more "county" schools down there. Up in the east, there are not that many 1A county schools (usually there are at least 2, and in the case of Carter-5)

I mean, yeah, its obvious that teams from this end of the state doesn't win as much. And, yeah, maybe the talent pool is just a little bit lower. But, there are a few disadvantages...but I wouldn't call any team or ration that didn't make it to the state tourney "not that good"

Just an opinion from one Unaka Ranger fan: Those Lady Landers were tremendous. It certainly was worth the 650 mile round trip to see such grit, hustle, determination, etc.

It was also terribly painful to watch the Carter County ladies walk off the court in defeat. They were truly gallant. Wish they could've played a bit closer to home. Or better yet it would seem so much fairer having the quarter-finals in say, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Nashville and Memphis, with only those four winners meeting at Murfreesboro.

But hey, this is to take nothing from Moore County. They were so cool under pressure; and #10 surely did answer the call in the final quarter. But Lady Landers, you really are AWESOME.

And he was cut loose this spring from Scotts Hill. Heard him in a interview a few month back and he inspired me. He needs to be back home in the Purple & Gold, regardless of if he is HC or not or even if he doesnt coach at all, his presences will improve the environment. But Again, I have no clue if he would even be interested.

Not much shot to win a state title at Macon but could very well be a contender with the talent coming up through the peewee and junior high ranks in TC I hear. He my dark horse candidate. trousdale co fans could also brag to their neighbors that they talked their best coach into coming to TC on a year of such high expectations at Macon co.
