quarterpounder
I was just wondering who has the highest batting average in the state? Please lets be real about this. I hope coaches will post on this.
lazarus
batting averages are like assists in basketball. the scorekeeper is the key. the highest batting average will belong to someone with a helpful scorekeeper.

etsportseditor
It's not that hard to determine what is a hit and what is not. I don't think many coaches would allow padding the stats either. If someone is keep score and has knowledge for the game that will keep it accurate. Our sports department has found that most of the time the home and away books match up very well. I can't speak for other places but for Carter, Johnson and Washington Counties, the schools do a very good job at keeping the books.
Blue21SallyAt7
i love these types of threads.........they all end up like the bench press, 40 yard dash time, and squat threads.....Just a good laugh early in the morning
OSCARtheGROUCH
I know that a lot of coaches will bump up certain players batting averages to try and make them more appealing to colleges. So it's hard to get an accurate account. Then you also have coaches that have sons that play. And we all know how that goes....An error for me or you will be a hit for him. illpete23
How about the coaches that knock a player's average DOWN? There have been instances where a conflict between either player/coach or player/parent has caused a player's average to drop. Some weird things happen when coaches don't treat everyone the same. But then again, some go up, some go down...it all depends on who you are...
quarterpounder
all i was asking was who are the leading hitters across the state according to batting averages. i would love some names and stats not some hog wash opinions on if a coach has a son, or if the scorekeeper don't like someone. names and averages please. etigerville
I'll give you a name, Jacob Smith. I assure you that the stat keepers at Eagleville High School are honest. What good does it do anybody to be dishonest? coach's son or not? Jacob is batting .597 after 17 games. He has 33 hits including 9 doubles and 2 home runs, not to mention Jacob has hit successfully in all 17 games this season. Although Eagleville is a single A program, we still face good pitching, and in my opinion, Jacob is the best hitter in the mid-state. OSCARtheGROUCH
Nice catch Mr. baseball. Those Eagleville stat keepers can't be too honest if they get .597 out of 33 hits. Here's a clue for them: Hits are divided by times at bat. Walks DO NOT count as a hit or a time at bat.
