Any Farragut supporters out there? I was just wondering what kind of shape the football team was in.

Blount's coming off of a major butt-kicking at the hands of Maryville. The heart of their team--Sr. Defensive end/running back & D1 prospect--Ryan Grubb is out with a knee injury. Bad things man ... bad things.

On the plus side, they're still 2 & 0 in the region. They've still got a pretty decent football team. It's homecoming this Friday night. And it seems they've rebounded fairly well this week in practice so far.

How's the game shaping up, as far as you Admiral fans are concerned? I just have to believe you'all are a better team than your performance against Heritage indicated earlier in the season.

Hey Govman,

Off the subject a little I know, but you said Grubb is a d1 prospect. I was just wondering who was looking at him right now, if you had any leads on where he might land next year, and also how that all might be impacted by his injury. How serious is it anyway? Thanks.

Clemson is probably the "biggest" school that is recruiting him and I think he is very interested in going there. I'm not sure how this will impact him.

The injury, best I've been able to gather, is a damaged mcl (not certain which knee). Evidently, it is an injury that will not be repaired with surgery, but rather through rehab and time. Estimates range from 2-3 weeks to season ending, so I'm just not sure.

Ryan has the speed, the strength, the determination, the work ethic, and the heart to play at the next level. At a D1 school, he would almost certainly have to make a position change from defensive end I would think, because of his size.

His injury is a blow to the Gov's. They can replace him with some solid players, skill wise, but he was the "emotional leader" of the team, and its always tough to lose that.

    • I have no idea who your team is, but Memphis and other Shelby Co. schools have hardly made a dent, if you’re talking Game 15 appearances. Outside of a couple by Whitehaven, I can’t recall the last team in a final.
    • Robbed you guy at a chance of 3 state championships. You never kne, sond best team in the west my have beat you also, but you sure deserved the chance to play um.
    • Eagleville also loses Brown the catcher, Lamb CF, Mclemore RF (Heck of an athlete) and Drew the 1st baseman. They will be young.
    • Good thing we aren’t in Florida then huh? It would benefit a ton of the smaller schools  that don’t have the pools of kids to choose from! They should start by policing Shelby County like they do the rest of the state! Something has to change though and TSSAA knows that!
    • Correct, you can whimsically be fired in coaching. A coach that has tenure can stay on as a teacher if released from coaching. If you don’t have tenure as a teacher, you can fired without cause. Your last year as a teacher before tenure is earned you can be fired, but must be given cause. A tenured teacher can be fired, but it is a long hard process requiring the 3 D’s…. documentation, documentation and documentation. I have released 3 tenured teachers, 2 with PHD’s. However, teacher contracts had and still have clauses that state you can be fired for a variety reasons re: being arrested, public drunkenness, inappropriate relationships ect.
