Memories from 2003 Season

Macon County going to the Semi-finals and getting put out by the 3a state champions......... and still not getting scored on as much as the runners up.

OS winning its first outright region/district title since 1988.

The unbelivable ending to the BA-MBA regular season finale where the BA kicker hit a field goal AFTER time had expired and the three blind mice referees allowed it to stand sending the game into Overtime where BA eventually won.

Biggest travesty I have witnessed in high school sports.

Well if we had lost to Brentwood the first go around because of THREE TDs being called back, I would say that would have been the biggest travesty. But we won, so it's all good.

The best (two) memories of 2003 for me is Greenbrier going to State semifinals and becoming the Region 5 3a Region Champs.

 

The third best memory....beating Crockett County.

Memories....

 

1. MBA beating 4th ranked Trinity on TV.

 

2. BA beating MBA AFTER the game was over.

 

3. Lincoln County ending Riverdale's unbeaten streak at Tomahawk Stadium.

 

4. Gallatin getting shafted and knocked out of the playoffs by TSSAA.

 

5. Karns upsetting Dobbins Bennett.

 

6. Franklin beating Brentwood TWICE...Go Rebels.

 

7. Mo. West beating Maryville.

 

8. Northwest (Clarksville) having an outstanding season.

 

9. Fans from Macon County filling up coacht before every game.

 

10. Riverdale's upsetting unbeaten Lincoln County in the playoffs.

my worst memory will be coach helton having heart surgery and missing the playoffs, otherwise maryville gets beat by central not mo' west. it would not have mattered though hillsboro had the team this year.

#1. Standing on the Creekbank in Trousdale County Looking at the Scoreboard Showing Macon 21 and Trousdale 7.

#2. Macon County winning Region 4-3a.

#3. Macon County winning its first ever Playoff game.

#4. Kittrell Smith hitting a 38 yard field goal with 1.7 seonds left to Put Macon into the Quaterfinals, and Him hitting a 50 yard field goal with 11 seconds left to put Macon into the semi-finals.

Boyd Buchanan beating South Pittsburg twice when both time they were picked to lose.....and winning the state chamionship over DCA..Boyd deserved it.

How sorry I was to hear about Ryan Headrick and how glad I was to see him back.

 

Smiling when everyone made such an issue about Maryville finally losing and feeling proud that they went 13-1 after replacing 18 starters from last year.

 

The respect I continue to have for Hillsboro and glad to see they won the big one. They kept coming back and made it happen.

 

Felt good for Morristown West even though they beat us. They got to go to the big game and made a good showing.

 

How sorry I was to see the High School season end and all that was left was a BCS disaster and over paid self promoting pros proving once again that money ruins the game.

 

How obsessed many non-Maryvile people are with Maryville and constantly start threads about them with the sole intention of taking shots at them, and then complaining to Coach T that there are too many Maryville threads. Example? Look at the first post in this thread.
