When is it? Is it one or two days?

Its Jan. 2nd and 3rd, there should be some tough competition as always, I know there will be some tough kids from Red Bank to look out for, Joey Royster at 103, Lucas Strozak at 112, Cody Hedrick at 130, Rick McKnight 135, Mickey Mooney 160, Josh Williams 171 and Brandon O'Neal 189. They will make a stong showing there, I don't know any other team there so I can't say who else to look out for.

One weight to look for will be 125. We should get to see another Simpson/Hiller match, plus several other ranked wrestlers from D1 should be there. Here are the teams from last year, but I don't know if they will all be back. You can probably count on the bigger schools coming back.

As you can see, Father Ryan draws some of the top talent from our state. Some exciting weights to watch will be 125 with Ibrahim, Hiller, and Simpson and the battle for 2nd at 152 between the top D1 kids including Borneman, Gessler, Espinoza, Konz, and Johnson. I thought they would, but I went to their home page (www.cbhs.org), and they are not scheduled to be there. Also, they are not on the list above. They would have really beefed up the upper weights.

As for 'ones to watch', add Justin Miller (Benjamin Russell, AL) to the list at 152. I'm pretty sure Benjamin Russell will be the only team from Alabama up there, and Justin is (better than) good. He lost (6-5 in the final seconds) in the finals of the Father Ryan Invitational last year to Adam Stark.
