WrestleSBA,

Brian Hall was jumpy off of the whistle and he was penalized for it. There were no hard feelings between him and Dunning, and it is a shame that you bring this up three years after it happened. He lost the match with class. I do know that there were some comments from the Memphis following after the match that Brian Hall had to apologize to Dunning for. Why drag this up?

I wasn't at the dual meet so I didn't see what happened. However, here is something from the rule book that might be helpful.

A warning for the coach is something that takes place only at the table. If a coach goes to the table to argue misapplication of a rule, and he is correct in his argument, the sitation is corrected and nothing happens. If the coach argues misaaaplication of a rule and is wrong, he is given a warning for misconduct. If he goes to the table again and is wrong then there is a deduction of one team point for unsportsmanlike conduct.

If a coach is doing anything from the bench area, that is deemed by the official or his assistant as unsportsmanlike, there is a deduction of a team point for unsportsmanlike conduct. There is no warning. Also action that is unsportsmanlike can also be deemed as flagrant misconduct if the official or his assistant deems it as such.

On a side note, if the assistant coach goes to the table and argues misapplication of a rule and is wrong, he does not get the warning. The warning goes to the head coach. Unsportsmanlike conduct applies to the individual commitiing the unsportsmanlike act.

i brought it up and used it as an example of one of the things that can happen when you go to other "people's houses". that's all and just warning that you need to be prepared for it.

if a tree falls in the woods and there is no one around to hear it, does it make a sound? duh.

wasn't at the duals but have talked to a few people, read the local fishwrap and postings and can easily conclude that the brother was torched. and it really began a match earlier. sorry that the head life guard from the wave pool won't be at the state this weekend with his clones but this is what can happen when the establishment is threatened. left side, be wary of this and plan in the future.

by the way, i have only one fine gentleman's name to leave you with, brian hall. a first class person and wrestler whose only blemish on a perfect senior season was at the hands of the center of the plate machine at ryan. went on to overcome this wrong by winning state later that year at 19. but wouldn't an unblemished record have been grand. :P

..and if Helen Keller falls in the forrest, does she make any noise? Aren't we talking about the battle for 4th or 5th best in DII and who really cares except MBA and CB?

takedown3,

The importance with the MBA/CBHS dual lies in the growth of a program. CBHS has done a great job with their team this year. A win vs MBA would have been some validation for them. They have been told that "until they beat somebody" they will not get any seed consideration in the bracket. Beating MBA would have been beating somebody. Also if CBHS wins the match, they get an additional dual against tough competition instead of MBA. They get tape on their Baylor counterparts. This could prove valuable at the state.

Wristbar,

Sorry for the delinquency in my reply but here we go. The only reason I bring up the mentioning of Brian is that usfjim had done so earlier. I am fully aware of what was said and what happened in that match. I also know that Brain and Mr. Dunning ( I feel as if he deserves the respect ) were in no way angry with each other. However, I am sure that both of them would have preferred a match without any controversy. I just wanted to reinforce the fact that sometimes even some of the best lose close matches and a lot of emotion flies when this happens. I am sorry that this was a point of concern for you but I felt it reinforced the point.

You're right but I really did want to get that Helen Keller joke in! We all need West Tenn wrestling to be competitive for the betterment of the sport.

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
