its not that Happy Valley doen't have talent, they are a talented, well coached team, and they proved it v/s Hampton, but when it comes to a match-up with unicoi, they are out matched by far.

HVHS did not play as well as they can tonight. They have the potential to be a very good team. That was shown when they beat a good Elizabethton team @ Treadway. They seem to lack basketball savvy. As far as athletes, they are in good shape. Obviously, they will not win this tournament, but the region starts Monday and they can still make some noise if they play with the same defensive tenacity as they did during the 4th quarter tonight. I believed at the beginning and I still believe Betsy is the team to beat. Val will be the key. Rikki will get hers simply on hard work. The rest will be the role players that they have been all year. Val is,in my opinion, the best athlete in the conference. If she shows with the A game on, Betsy will not lose. The injury to Weaver will not hurt the Betsy cause either. I hope her injury is not significant - for her as well as her team. She has a bright future. I would hate for UCHS to have an excuse when they fall. They are loaded with talent in their lineup. But, they are also top heavy with arrogance and poor sportsmanship. When you have the guns they have, you should just walk on the court, get it done, and go home with a victory. Instead... well everybody knows what follows. so whoever wins between unicoi and Elizabethton will ultimately face South Greene in the region.........i know that 1AA is good, but isn't South Greene tearing people up left and right....it seems to me that South Greene is a threat, especially at tourny time(exception of last year).......what do yall think

Elizabethton beat South Greene last year. Both teams have improved, so that would appear to be an interesting matchup. Unicoi has beaten Elizabethton twice so District 2 better not take District 1 lightly.

This statement proves your ignorance. Everyone knows that ucdad, ucweaver, and ucsparks is none other than some idiot from Betsy.

As for the elbows just watch the game films. Hv is the dirtiest team around. And don't think the betsy girls don't use the elbows. UC does also but not enough. Thats why the other teams lay all over them.They need to put a few of them in some ribs.

 

As for Redd. Theres no room in high school ball for the forn of shooting show boating.I think that to score is why they are out there. Not to put on a show to get noticed.

As for teams being dirty, Basketball is Basketball. Its all about playing hard-nosed defense and putting pressure on the other team. I do recall being at the UC vs. HV game the other night and the Unicoi fans yelling "come on girls throw elbows" and as soons as HV pulled the ball through into triple threat the same man yells "Ref HV is throwing elbows." UC has a great program with tradition and great talent. The only thing that was dirty about the game the other night is the ignorant fans that forget this is only high school basketball!
