It's funny how positive everyone is about their stories. Del is positive that his source was correct, but it's hard to discount the statements that were given by people who were actually there then by those getting it second hand from Grundy County people. Personally, I don't appreciate people getting on here and throwing out racial accusations without being 100% positive that they're right(which obviously isn't the case). Especially when you play that "blacks can get away with murder while we can't do anything" BS. Whether or not you wanted it to, that's how it came off to me. Think a little more about how or what you say before you say it, especially in a public format.

I was there for the whole thing from start to finish and saw what happened with my own eyes. I refuse to get on here and tell what happened because its not like people from Hixson are really going to listen to the truth anyway. The people that need to hear what happened have already been contacted and the ones that need to be informed about the situation will be today. You can read the post on this thread and tell that there has been a history (this year) with Hixson and games played at Hixson High School. The safety of high school student athletes is very important and the boys basketball team at Grundy County High School was in a very dangerous situation leaving the game on Friday. There is not a lot that ONE security guard can do to keep things calm. This is why Hixson and there administration needs to hire actual police officers to work thier games. It would also help if thier principal who stood next two the two main culprits outside the gym would have done ANYTHING to help with the situation. It would also be a great help if the referee that came out and said the things he said as he was leaving would have just got in his car and left without saying anything. After all that is what he was told to do becasue I have worked for the TSSAA and know what they tell officials to do in situations of this manner. I promise you that the referee said things that any average person would have not said and being that he was an official that means he should be held at a higher standard.

TV in Chattanooga is now on the story.

In case some don't understand what I've said let me make it clear.

I prefaced everything by saying I wasn't there. I hoped some first hand accounts would be posted and they have. Take them all for whatever you think they're worth.

I don't condone racial comments from either side. If someone from Grundy said something along those lines they need to be dealt with. But those who said "white trash" and "honkey" should be dealt with as well.

I said that ANYONE who threw things on the floor should be banned from all events for at least a year. It's been said by first hand accounts that someone from Hixson threw things first and then someone from Grundy probably threw things next. Those individuals don't deserve to go to games. They should be banned. Mom always said, two wrongs don't make a right.

I also don't believe in hiding from the truth. Grundy is far from perfect. We have fans that show up to every game that think that every call an official makes against us is a wrong or biased call. Those folks can't see the truth through their purple and gold eyes. They let their team spirit get in the way of reality. They also make us look bad by complaining about every call.

But I also said the a coach said the refs called the game ok. They weren't great nor were they terrible. Therefore Hixson was on the way to winning and it had nothing to do with the refs. Obviously I wasn't clear enough when I said it earlier.

Plain and simple things got out of hand. That should NEVER happen. The host school is responsible for making sure games are safe and controlled.

And as for those who think I'm trying to be racist which is what I'm taking from some posts all I can say is please feel free to contact my Army roomate SFC Gary Hoskins. He's in Korea right now as a platoon seargent and I'm sure he will be glad to clear that up for you. I've just talked to him by Messenger in the last 24 hours and traded several emails. We have care packages passing in the mail. If you'd like his email I'll be glad to provide it to you in a PM.

Referees should never do what was done Friday night. It should be dealt with.

Fans should never get out of control like they did. The administration should be dealt with for not keeping things in control.

No one should ever throw something on the floor. Each one of those folks should be dealt with.

Knives should never be on school property much less be used in a threatening manner. That individual should go to jail.

Coaches should never be sucker punched. The person who threw the punch should be prosecuted.

Teams should never have to have the police come to escort them out.

There may be plenty of blame to hand out. Whoever is at fault should be dealt with. High school games should not turn out like this.

Like Russ098 said almost all the post against Hixson are totally untrue. to call anything racial is beside the point when there were several "N" words used by grundy players while on the floor(towards both refs and Hixson players) i was on the court so none of you can deny this.Hixson fans were obnooxious as were grundy's parents. for adults, they were the worst sports in the building. i guess thats where those players learned their wonderful manners. there was a lot of words after the game but the only scene with the knife was when a grundy father threatened a black fan, but never showed the knife. this shows that if there was any racism it was obviously from grundy by remarks by players and fans. it was all a big mistake but don't threaten other schools when you don't have the galls to go watch your team lose, therefore you know nothing that 100% true

first of all, del needs to get a life. he wasnt at the game...he doesn't know at all what happened...i don't know why he is on here talking about how he's gonna do this and going to do that.

the point is...grundy is mad because the game ended with a forfeit instead of losing by double digits anyway.

they knew perfectly well if something else was thrown on the floor, the game would be called. that is soully the grundy parents/fans fault the game was called.

this anger continued into the parking lot where an older man from grundy got in a tall Hixson students face. the Hixson students retaliated on the "agressive man" and it went south from there.

oh and by theway somebody got their ankles broke by Josh Green over and over throughout the whole game he needs to be reported to Memorial hospital to get his ankles x-rayed.

Not Del (who wishes he were there and not the movies)

ballmaven21,

I've been to more games than you will ever be able to go to. I'm entitled to a night off with my family as much as anyone.

I also find it very hard to believe that Grundy players used the "n" word on the floor toward a black ref and they weren't tossed. Come on, you know if you were in the striped shirt and a kid called you that you'd throw him out of the game on the spot.

That claim just can't be true.

I'm done with this one. The truth will come out. Again a Chattanooga TV station is now working on the story. So I'm sure whoever is proven to have done something wrong will be punished by the TSSAA.... and they should be.

And I never said I was going to do anything. I'm not an official or a coach. They will be the ones reporting and already have.

But I'm not going to argue with kids on here. I remember how it was to be young and think I was right about everything. Boy was I wrong.

Peace be to you.

    • Im asking everyone to keep roy whited and his family in your prayers. Coach whited won back to back state championships at white county in 98-99. He is very well liked and respected in this area. For those of you that dont know he went missing 3 days ago. No one knows where he is. His truck was found in a rural part of the county. Thanks again. We are all very concerned.
    • West would be a good team to get behind if they can pull it off again like last year. That championship game last year was awesome.
    • I say that because he stepped out of a MUCH better situation on his own than he would see at least his first 3 years at DCA and it would take at least that much to bring him back to coaching. There are other fish in the sea, but again money talks. Need to fix the girls hoops too. Now I'll try again. Who has Pierce locked in for his staff? Hearing a McGavock man but not the Iceman.
    • I’ve heard mostly good things from the gridiron. Lots of optimism. It sounds like the portal has mostly helped, though there are a few expected defections. Comeback year!
    • Rudesell 1 year at Crockett. Coach Tate 2 weeks a Bradford. South Gibson supposedly going with jcs middle school coach. Which isn’t who I thought would get it, I know the top 2 was between him and Obion girls head coach.
