oldhops1
As for Temple winning next year. . . they have to learn how to play defense. What once used to be a trademark of Temple basketball - taking a charge - is practically non-existent now. And simply hollering at the players to take a charge isn't the same thing as teaching players how to do it. Yeah, if Temple wants to be competitive next year, they better have some defensive clinics over the summer or something - they need it. Yeah, if Temple wants to be competitive next year, they better have some defensive clinics over the summer or something - they need it. I totally agree with you on that one. You can yell all you want to at the kids -- but they need to be taught how to take a charge and play good defense. You're right, defense used to be a trademark of Temple basketball. If you want to win games you've got to have defense. That was one of the reasons the Crusaders lost to Unaka in the Semi's. If any of the players read this post -- don't take it the wrong way -- just work hard for next year's run for the 'boro. God bless and take care. And congrats on having a good year. moose3542
Ezell will be a tough team next year. They only had one senior this year. They will be very dangerous with Joe "the show" Lackey. Aaron "Chokemaster 99" Duke will have a good year. Chris "Lector" Blackburn is going to be a beast on the court and Josh "master splinter" Pitto has moves like no other. I think Ezell could make it to state.
CosbyEagle
Oh not trying to imply anything, I just couldn't remember if it was Cosby or Templethat played that year.. I know you guys lost to South Fulton in the opening round in 98" , but I wasn't for sure about 2000.. That was when that Pearson kid played. He was just to tough to defend and nobody could stop him that season Yeh, that was Cosby that lost to Pearson in the finals that year. We had a good chance to beat South Fulton but Trey was unstopable in the 2nd half. Just a little history: Cosby went to State '97, '98, '99, '00 & '03 substate losses in '01 (1pt at Hancock) & '04 (3pts at Unaka) There are two Silver Balls in the Cosby trophy case. runner- ups in '99 & '00. That a pretty impressive run. Cosby is loaded with young talent and has a great coach. The Eagles will be a factor again next year.
LeeRoy
I like Tenn. Temple to win it next year at M-boro. Those fellas can play ball with the best of them. And to have such a young team and make it as far as they did this year was an accomplishment. They've got like 2 freshman that start and I think their sixth man is also a freshman. That dude could be a starter with no doubt. I really think these guys are going to be around the next three years at making a run for the gold ball. I think there's a lot of teams that would luv to have the success they have at Temple. Grace also has a good team. I don't know how these Christian schools get such talent -- other than it's just the Lord blessin them. I think it's great for these teams to be playin against the public schools and being so successful at it. So, God Speed to you guys next year. nasty fro bro 20
Yall better watch out for those CPA lions next year yall........they will be pretty good....but i think TN Temple will be good and also grace may be back in it...although they got very lucky this year in the tourny....lucky bounces and only 10 at half the game before barely beating Greenfield and losing in the champ. game by 17......CPA had it and should have one...but hey its only a small taste of what is coming next year for those Lions of mighty CPA!! good luck to everyone in single A next year and i hope its another close Tournament as it was this year......Go Vandy! Five straight trips to the state tourney and a state championship to boot.. But they went from 20+ win seasons for five years in a row to 8 wins last year and 13 this past season in 04'. It's very tough for the rural public Class A schools to keep making those state tourney runs year in and year out.. Of coarse, it's also nice to have a great athlete like a Pearson on your team every year as well Kids like that come along in a program about once in a lifetime... fatchance
Oldhops is right, what use to be a trademark for Temple seems to be a thing of the past. They rode talent the last couple of years but now they need to go back to the drawing board, if they even remember what that was...most of these kids have never played defense like the older Temple guys did. I think all this Temple defense hype is just that, hype, and that was proved this year. fatchance said they would beat ccs and that assured them a spot in the boro, and they did luck out for one game...and you have to admit it was lucky, they were behind until the last play, and then got beat...this and the fact that grace was still playing only shows you how weak single A was this year. bobcatfan300
These were not weak teams, but the group was weaker than the field would have been with better teams like Pickett Co. who blew Unaka out of the gym 80-57, Gordonsville, Chattanooga Christian, etc. But, those teams lost when they should have been playing their best ball, and Unaka deserved to win since they played when it counted.
