Captain Commando
I'm going to have to go with Bennie Marroon. We raced the other day and he beat me pretty bad. I was impressed. I'm not sure if he runs track or not, but I he should. I won every event on field day back in the 7th grade, so he's UNSTOPPABLE. So you might just want to add Bennie Marroon to your list. KGP3428
Lamarcus Coker from Atioch High is the best all around trackstar buddys no one can compare he runs a 4.29. im sure bingham aint puttin up numbers like dat Coker is very fast...probably the fastest sprinter in TN (HS), but not even close to Bingham all around. Also, no one on here cares what is 40 time is...a fast 40 doesn't mean anything in track (outdoors).
800trackmom
Michael Bingham looked totally awesome at Optimist. He said he wasn't jumping great but boy did he make up for it when it came time to run. I believe the Chattanooga paper said there were eighteen teams at the event and that Bingham had more points than 13 of those teams. It will be interesting to see what kind of a decathalon total he has this year. It will also be interesting to see what three running events he competes in. ~justme~
after comparing places and times between the two below- Bingham does definitely dominate, but Thompson from BCHS also a contender and strong all around athlete! Although Bingham has 4-1st place finishes and 1-2nd vs/ Thompsons 1-1st place finish,1-2nd, 2-3rd's, and a 4th! Both athletes are extremely talented! A total of 1.68 seconds seperate the two in a total of 3 running events~Thompson just needs a little more "grit", and he could be there too! (If he would have ran all the way through the finish on the 400m instead of coasting in the last 5 yds he could have dropped another 3 or 4 tenths of a second!) 100m- Michael Bingham, 1st Place-10.87 Lamar Thompson,3rd place-11.15 200m- Michael Bingham, 1st place-21.76 Lamar Thompson,2nd place-22.08 400m- Michael Bingham, 1st place-50.08 Lamar Thompson, 3rd place-51.26 High Jump- Lamar Thompson- 4th Place 6'4" Micheal Bingham (did not participate) Tripe Jump- Michael Bingham, 1st place- 45' 6 1/2" Lamar Thompson (did not participate) Long Jump- Lamar Thompson,1st Place- 22' 6 1/2 " Michael Bingham, 2nd place- 22' 0" -------------------- With GOD Nothing is impossible! itzme
What about the best girl athlete? Who is the best all-around? Philipa Davies of Brentwood Academy and Lauren Stewart of Brentwood High are the two best all-around females in the state. Check the marks if you doubt. ...and they attend school only about 1.5 miles apart from each other. Must be something in the air in Brentwood! itzme
My vote would be Bingham from McCallie. He ran 38 and some change for the 300 hurdles at our meet yesterday. He's well rounded, well coached, and very talented. Bingham is awesome, but look for Chris Buck of BA to push him a bit in the decathlon this year. Buck has been putting up some big performances lately, including 15' 0" in the PV at Kenwood.

Gary Kinder, who was an Olympic decathlete in 1988, coaches (along with Philipa's dad, Brad Davies) both of them along many other of the state's top athletes.
