Sidetrain
Who you think will be the top five teams in 2004-05 season in each Class.
ShutupandPlay
AA... This could be a different year. As for District 7AA, the owner of the last six state titles..power may shift a little..Smith County and Upperman are predicted to be the teams to beat..but what person in his right mind would count out Livingston Academy or Jackson County? Both are rebuilding a bit but look for them to be sleepers come tourney time. Also, what about Walker Valley..if they stay in AA look for them to make some noise. Also Gibson County has some good talent returning.
HUCK
AAA Cleveland- looks really goos if they avoid injuries Columbia Central- has its talent returning from a State tournament team from 2004 Heritage- Have you heard of a player called Cait McMahan Shelbyville- you never can really count them out. Mt. Juliet- the chosen ones. can they finally break their jinx on not getting the state title. Not if Clark has anything to say about it. AA Oliver Springs had a real good summer Gibson County will be playing that weak West Tennessee schedule Someone will rise from 7-AA to cause havoc among other AA districts. Livingston and Jackson Co. have taken the last 6 titles. Walker Valley has most of its talent back except for the point gaurd. We'll see how they adjust A Don't really know of any strong candidates! I guess I'll just have to print and wait the four long months till the season begins.
CoachD33
Gibson County will be playing that weak West Tennessee schedule A Don't really know of any strong candidates! These two comments show your ignorance of West Tennessee basketball, and don't get offended about ignorance it just means not informed. I will give you that Gibson Co. has not played as strong a non-district schedule as some in the West, but to imply that being in the West makes the schedule weak is far from fact. 13AA is very good whether you people want to give them props or not. Their multiple wins over 1A power Trenton Peabody in recent years is a testament even if it's down a class. That brings me to your lack of knowledge on class A. The rest of the state has more titles in the top two classes but check which grand division has the most in small schools and you'll find it's west of the Tennessee River! Bring on the 13AA-7AA Challenge!
HUCK
Forget about the 7AA-13AA challenge because it will leave 13AA with question marks. Middle Tennessee is west of the the Tennessee River also..just fyi! West Tennessee usually wins the A crowns, but the lowest classifications usually don't get the fanfare like the big schools. You just have to admit that the west Tennessee programs that boast the excellent records and don't go to the elite tournaments like the rest of Tennessee schools. The Gibson Counties of West Tennessee need these kind of tournaments to push them tot he limits. They might get a loss but the experience is valuable! Again you have lumped all West Tennessee teams with Gibson when it comes to schedule. Westview played at the Beach Ball Classic last year along with Jackson County and had similar results. If you want to pick at Gibson County's schedule fine but don't degrade West Tennessee basketball as a whole if you're not familiar with it. Very few AAA schools here outside Memphis though Jackson Northside has fared well recently. Best programs in Memphis area are in D-2. And yes as a geography teacher I know that the Tennessee River runs through the state twice. That's just a matter of natural boundary for grand divisions. york10
Here we go again, bashing Gibson Co, and all other West Tn teams. I think the post was about the top 5 for next year period. There is alot of new talent comeing in all the schools. Who knows where that GOLD BALL will bounce in 2005. Never assume nothing, for that is where alot of losses start. coachh17
Upper East Tennessee's going to have several quality teams: AAA- Greeneville(2004 State Tournament) should be the best chance to get to the "Boro". Jefferson County also returns an outstanding team. Daniel Boone and Science Hill are darkhorses. AA- Unicoi County and Elizabethton return many key players and could make runs at the state tournament. Pigeon Forge and South Greene look to be the best teams in District 2. A- Unaka(2004 State Tournament) returns everything and anything less than a return trip to the state would be a disappointment. University High has a new coach and a good transfer and could be a darkhorse.
