New Regions--DI Class 2A

Region 2:

Alcoa

CAK

Loudon

Oliver Springs

Rockwood

Sweetwater

Wartburg Central

Region 3:

Bledsoe County

Boyd-Buchanan

Marion County

Meigs County

Polk County

Sequatchie County

Tellico Plains

Tyner Academy

Since Boyd Buchanan will be moved into Reg. 3-2A I really think that Tellico Plains should be moved into 3-3A its a more natural region as for as travel goes. Region 3 would be better with Rockwood in the region than Tellico or if they don't move Tellico they could split the Region up into two sections a East & West section.

EAST

Meigs County

Polk County

Tellico Plains

Tyner Academy

WEST

Bledsoe County

Boyd Buchanan

Marion County

Sequatchie County

Not real sure out of Boyd or Tyner of which school is the furthest east but I think its Tyner? The top two teams in each bracket would go to the playoffs.

So what do you think about this?

Boyd, DCA, CPA and a few other privates will take Goodpasture's and David Lipscomb's place among the elite in Class AA. They will be in the hunt every year for a state title. It probably won't be long until TSSAA will be asked to move the privates up again if they continue to dominate.

I think instead of looking at a East and West split. We need to kick Tyner and Boyd out, and go back to the good ole days where the top team would change every year and it was always up in the air. Football in this region isn't any fun anymore, and Meigs is seeing a drop in the athletes that play, because of it. Who wants to be second or third?

Really? How would you do that? Maybe we could just give the kids from Meigs their own region so they could be first EVERY year! The most ridiculous statement I have heard on these boards in a long time. If this is the attitude that the students from Meigs County HS have, then they don't deserve even 2nd or 3rd. Competition should make you better, but you have to adapt to what is dealt to you. If the teams around you are getting better, for whatever reason, then in order for you to compete you must do something different that what you have done before. We have done that in Oak Ridge, you can do that in Meigs County.

This is the most ridiculous statement I have ever heard. You talk about something you know nothing about. In the rural counties surrounding Chattanooga we do not have the athletes to compete with Tyner's recruiting. Any student that lives in all of Hamilton Co. can go to Tyner. This gives them an advantage over the rural counties in the area. It takes us many yrs to have a class come through with the raw ability that Tyner gets every yr. We do work hard in Meigs and we have changed things up, but the fact still remains that Tyner can pick from close to 50,000 kids to let in their school and still remain at 2A. We at Meigs have a inrolement of about 550 students in 9th-12th grades. I just feel like we are getting a raw deal. Also this is not the view of a student at Meigs so leave them out of it. I am a fan of highschool football and its not right. What you said about making it so Meigs can win every year, that is what it is now with Tyner. I don't see any team in the rural counties around Chattanooga being able to beat Tyner for many yrs. I may be wrong, and I hope I am. They may get beat this year. Do any of you think so?

jwinston,

Some of what you said is opinion, some of it is true and some of it is just plain 'ole envious. You are right about Tyner being a "magnet school" which lets kids who desire a certain academic curriculum attend the school, however, Tyner has not always been a magnet school. We were 3A runner-up to Melrose in the 1996 Championship game and in prior years had to face Marion County( and you know what kind of "dynasty" they had in the early 1990's)...not once did you hear of any complaints...our Coach Wayne Turner just got better and better and we won the 2A Championship a year later(1997) .

As for recruiting and having a pool of "athletes" to choose from, we don't have that luxury. I think you have us confused with some of the other teams we have to face in the playoffs...namely Goodpasture and Lipscomb. You just have "to play with the cards that are dealt to you". I didn't agree with letting Goodpasture back into Region 4 in 1999 because for two(2) years they had already stock-piled enough players in the "private" league. This cost the RAMS the title in 1999( we lost 18-21) and no one else came close to beating Goodpasture that year.

Each year we either face Lipscomb or Goodpasture...we have to deal with it...last year we beat Goodpasture, however, we lost Lipscomb...we have to deal with it!!!

My response to you is "You must deal with the Tyner RAMS every year" so deal with it and quit whining!!!!

It must not be that difficult a magnet when your two SEC linemen failed to qualify, or at least one of them with the other hopefully scraping in. Other Division I talents have had to go Division II from there, and one that went to UTC that I really liked isn't on the team anymore. With that being said, I do hope Smith and Bouldin they make it, I want to see them on TV representing the area.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
