1A Mr. Football Award?

I'm just wondering who will be awarded Mr. Football for class 1A and why they should get it?

I think That Chancy DePriest from West Carroll should get Mr. Football 1A. DePriest is an all around athlete, he is the go to guy.

Caleb Skogen from Temple. Its unlikely bc of Temples small size. But he is an all around athlete and a very talented reciever. He could play on any team anywhere. He has alot of yards recieving and has made some great catches.He also has over 1,000 yards recieving.

The player who is on a winning team, and has a bunch of publicity well most likely get the award. I haven't heard much this year out any one player in middle Tennessee

Matt Peardon of Boyd-Buchanan is a solid choice. He will help lead the Bucs back to another state title.

I'd have to agree with this pick. He runs as hard as anyone I've ever seen at the Class A level, and is a workhorse.

I give Jamarcus Webster a vote. He is an all around athelete, and just MIGHT be D1 material.

Many times this award (Mr. Football) is a carry over from the previous year. Matt Peardon led his team to a state title last season and is having a better year this year. He would surely be a leading candidate. Drew Akins certainly deserves strong consideration as well. I would think that Chris Payne would deserve mention in the lineman category and Weston Perry in the kicking category. Other high profile players would include Webster from Mt. Pleasant, Sikes and Fisher from CPA, Wooden from DCA, Ross from USJ, DePriest from West Carroll, and probably several others I have left out. Who's the back from Davidson Academy? What about the Coalfield kid? No disrespect intended -- I just don't know all the names.

Matt Peardon (Boyd) would have to be one of the favorites. Coalfield's Michael Paul Gilbert (RB) and Steven Hensley (WR) are two of the top athletes in East Tennessee among Class A teams and should be at least considered.

All of the players mentioned would be good candidates. South Pittsburg's Jeremy Allison should be considered. He is a good passer and has extraordinary speed. If he had a at least a decent line he would really put up some big numbers. Even now he is about 85% of their offense. South Pittsburg's record will hurt him being nominated though.

Jamarcus Webster 6-3 215 lb SR. He is from Mt.Pleasant Why should he be a canidate? Here's why:

 

Mt. Pleasant is 7-0 ranked #2 in the AP Poll in class A.

Mt. Pleasant has outscored their opponents 392-35 (scoring 56ppg and allowing just 5ppg) Average margin of victory 51points. Closest game they won by 40+

 

His numbers could be even better, but they usually take him out some time in the third quater to keep from running the score up too much. He is a great DE/TE/SE, but also returns punts; and they use him in different positions. He is a terror on defense, but does not have to do everything because he has a great team around him.

 

22 catches for 501 yards and 12 TDs

11 carries for 142 yards and 5 TDs (17 total TDs)

AP Class A player of the week

There is more I am sure, but that's all I could get.

 

Jamarcus is a humble kid. He is a class act. I played with him when he was a freshman. I believe that he cares about helping his team win more than his own individual glory. That makes him an even more worthy canidate.

 

If he does not at least get to be finalist for Mr. 1A football, then I think it would be a disgrace. I believe he should win the award.
