Maryvile to remain in 4-A ?

I was surprised in the article linked on the home page that Maryville was going to remain in 4-A. I had thought that they would be moved to 5-A.. It is good for Maryville not having to face Oak Ridge and Dobyns-Bennett to get to Murfreesboro.

What surprises me is that there are four teams will less enrollment than Maryville that chose to move up to 5 A.

 

What really made me laugh was "Murvul" said that he was glad that Maryville wouldn't have to face Oak Ridge & DB to get to Murfreesboro. The way some of the Maryville fans talk, they feel that they can beat any team that comes their way....especially teams such as Oak Ridge, DB, Riverdale, UT & the Titans.

 

Why not see if you guys have the talent and back up your bragging - or are some of these same fans scared that they will be humbled???

i think we might actually lose a game if we move up to 5a, opposed to 4a when we kill everyone every game. so it might be good for us to move up, a challenge possibly

Yeah, I bet it gets pretty boring beating people every week. All jokes aside, I think the move up would be good for you guys. There would be some good match-ups in that region.

Do you know how many people normally are on the Maryville football team? If any team should be moved up to 5A I think Morristown West should. I believe they have 87 on their roster.

Maryville dresses anywhere between 70-80 players every year.

 

Maryville would do fine in 5A. They would have a hard time beating Riverdale. Everone else has had a hard time beating Riverdale also.Maryville could hold their own vs Oak Ridge and Dobyns Bennett year in and year out.

JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE 87 ON YOUR ROSTER DOES NOT MEAN YOU NEED TO MOVE UP TO 5A. THEIR COACHES WORK HARD TO GET THEIR PLAYERS OUT. THATS WHY THEY WILL CONTINUE TO HAVE A QUALITY PROGRAM.

 

JUST LIKE THE COACHES AT MARYVILLE DO! THEY WORK TO GET QUALITY KIDS OUT.

Every year they scrimmage DB and Oak Ridge and most years they win. At least two of their recent four state titles would have still been won had they been in 5A.
