Shannon is an elite player for the bulldogs. I think he can make it happen for them. Dawgs will face off with Rockwood again in the district championship game in a big thriller. Rockwood won't be so lucky this time. cause they cant handle shannon.Dont forget about baby shannon. these two are a big threat when they are on the court together. GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its not just two players that win the game.. sure they are great players but, their is more to WARTBURG than 2 players...if they win well... when they win its because of the team... Every kid on the team is why they ARE going to win, freshman, sophs  the water boy who ever..

There are many players who could have won the MVP,Shannon being one of them,he got it so it's over,he is a very good ball player on a very good team which has lots of talent, Wartburg has talent on the bench that should be getting minutes as well, but that's another topic..

Harriman,Wartburg,Oneida,Rockwood and even Coalfield could win this tournament.Harriman is the most dangerous team in this tournament.Their first five are as good or better than any team playing, but their depth kills them, Wartburg has depth and that helps them,Oneida could be the deepest team in the district, this is an open tournament even if it is being played in the dawgs house..

Give the Shannon kid a break,he deserved this award, but just like a quarterback, the offensive live makes or breaks a quarterback,The rest of the dawgs makes or breaks Shannon,he is good for them, and visa versa,it is called being a TEAM,when Wartburg plays that way they are hard to beat, when they don't,well, you lose 5 games...

Shannon has had good games against competition. Some teams may not be consistant and may play some people harder than others. But the facts are, if Wartburg wants to get this thing done they are going to have to rely on other players other than Jeremy Shannon. Now that's he's been named the District MVP he is going to be targeted, and if Wartburg plays their cards right then they can make other people pay for targeting him. And if other teams don't target him, then Shannon will be able to make them pay anyway. I'm not going to say Wartburg can beat anyone, but I will say that this district tournament can easily be decided on what Wartburg decides to do.

I agree with the everyone has the same chance to win the district tourney, the whole season there has been teams beat teams that you wouldn't thank could stay with in 20 points of other teams like when oakdale shocked oneida at home, but let's get real it's not the regular season anymore it's make or break time, and i just don't see rockwood or wartburg losing in the district tourney it's goin to come down to the co-district champs to see who the really region 4a district champions really are

yea you are right they are more than just 2 players on the team. but they need to start playing better DEFENSE!!!!!! like the other night against rockwood they didnt play enough D. if they can play better D when they get to the district championship theycan win it and we all know that it will be another showdown between Wartburg & Rockwood.

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
