I’m really interested to see what direction they go here. Coach Carpenter IMO left things in good shape. Guys worked hard and played hard for him. Coach Guyer the assistant played at HC and is young but he from all I know is a tremendous young man and aspiring young coach. But they may go after a seasoned coach. Hope they get a good one
Great place to coach. School board, admin, and community understand all that comes with being a rural school. Work hard, don't embarrass the school, and you can build a program. Best place I've ever coached.
We made history this year in a bad way getting the tech. Micah will hold her end of the bargain for sure. Hawk when it comes to winning states coaches can lead you to water but you have to have that group that will run the light bill up in the gym and live in the gym on their own time wanting it and wanting to work on their game. Coaches can only do so much. Got to have drive.
I wouldn't say historically. That's really only been the case the last 2 years. Before that, I know there were some really strong Independence teams in '15 and '16, but those were more or less 6A teams playing in 5A during the "super 32" nonsense. If we're bringing "historically" into the equation, I'd be taking this upcoming Henry County team over Nolensville. JMO of course.
I realize Baylor reloads however in the past 2 seasons they have lost 7 - D1 (ACC/SEC) commits and 1 first round draft pick. That is a lot, even for Baylor!
