  1. When are you fools going to learn that the TSSAA and NFHS only care about money. They could care less about the kids, parents or fans
  2. The TSSAA only cares about money and could care less about the kids or the fans
  3. Chancery Dean (Father Ryan) was 8th at 150#
  4. The national preps only have X number in a bracket and the only way any alternate gets in is if someone else declines an invitation to compete. I have been told that Tennessee is asking for 3 representatives per weight class as opposed to the two that we now receive.
  5. No seeding takes place in the TSSAA State Wrestling Championships.
  6. This is not the first incident to ever take place in a dormitory nor will it be the last. Any time that youth are living away from their parents in a dorm things happen and you just hope that those immature decisions do not follow them forever. We have all made poor decisions when we were teenagers.

Have you ever been to an Iowa Hawkeye match in Iowa City? They begin to call for stalling during the introductions.

Who knows as that would be a finals match and they both have to get to the finals. Anything is possible in the finals
  9. Having lived in California many years ago I will say that there are many things about the state that I do not approve of, but they do know how to do high school wrestling.
  10. Just like Tennessee having 3 state champions per weight classification is ridiculous. It's nothing more than a way to make more people feel good about themselves. Blame the YMCA, because they are the ones that began the trend of passing out participation trophies. Back in the day youth had to win a championship to receive a trophy.
  11. Both Cleveland and McCallie have good teams. I wish that someone would do a weight class by weight class analysis of both teams using the kids and the weights they are for the region tournament.
  12. No, I do not think that most high school coaches practice time management skills on a regular basis. I also do not feel that most teams devote very much time to special teams when it is actually close to 1/3 of the game. What I have witnessed out of even the best high school coaches is they work on special teams during the Thursday walk trough.
  13. If you don’t practice clock management with kids you will continue to get your backside kicked in crucial situations. The definition of insanity is to continue doing the same thing and expect different results.
  14. Great coaches practice situation football using clock management. If the high school coaches would watch the NFL they could learn a lot about time management.
  15. Penn State and if they wrestle all 10 of their varsity guys it will not be close
  16. The public school that I attended 40+ years ago did have a dedicated practice facility! lol as it was basically a 1/2 basketball court that could hold 1full mat (Resilite) wall to wall and 1 additional section of mat. What I see in most public schools is that with the closing of the industrial arts/shop class programs the wrestling teams and weight-rooms have taken over that space. At the inner-city high schools, you have several with swimming pools that have been closed for 20+ years. If you want to keep the kids off the streets and out of trouble you have to give them something to do, or they will invent something to do.
  17. I thought that the Marc and Mary Beth had sold all of the McDonalds restaurants that they owned.
  18. If he was disqualified is he eligible to wrestle in the region tournament?
  19. Why would anyone ever think that Coach Pat Simpson would shuffle his lineup to get the matchups that would help him win another state title? In his 40+ years of coaching he has never shown a tendency to move kids around!
  20. As a former college (D1) wrestler I can assure you that plenty quit and the reasons are from everything like “I just don’t like the sport anymore” to they have had multiple injuries and can’t stay health. Never, ever criticize a kid for deciding to give up the great sport of wrestling as it can be for numerous reasons. Very few kids ever reach the podium like Philip Simpson or Jordan Leen.
  21. On a given day Cleveland may very well be the best team in Tennessee. However, they were fortunate to a beat a very average Father Ryan team. My guess is that you could take Cleveland, Baylor, Father Ryan and McCallie and any of the four could win on a given day. We truly don’t have a strong dual team in Tennessee this year.
  22. I would bet $100.00 that he makes weight
  23. The solution is to hire the very best candidate available and then get out of his way and let the man do his job! Promoting from within is the easy hire and the most excruciating fire. Winning will solve most all of the problems and issues.
  24. The TSSAA has been doing this separation of region champions since the beginning on the state duals and they will not ever change to a seeding method. Like the late Al Davis was fond of saying “JUST WIN BABY”
  25. This is despicable and sends the wrong message to the kids and parents. If at all possible you should absolutely never forfeit a match. People can say whatever they want but a forfeit because you may have the odds stacked against you is not the mentally tough attitude that kids need to have.
