  1. wish i could have seen the game i know catholic is certainly upset i would be too. is it true they had a ton of kids out? not to hang the loss on that cause from my understanding webb isnt at full strength as well. and for the record waters is 5'9'' with heels on, 165 dripping wet, and with a head so big i dont know how he fits through doors. but congrats webb i hope you win the special olympics state championship again
  2. is the perez kid the one from webb? if it is then i wouldnt call him a game changer by any stretch but thats just my opinion. im excited about the farragut catholic game. i've been wanting catholic to play farragut bearden and maryville for a long time they're all going to be great games and too close to call. catholic is returning 3 soph starters from last year so rising juniors on the line and one more that got significant playing time so it will be interesting to see catholic's line vs farragut's line. farragut's skill against catholic's mackle, williamson, and cozart should be nice to watch as well. it'll be a slugfest im sure
  3. ya i remember hawkins he was all over the place has he done anything to put himself out there for college scouts? he was a stud. he needs to call some people up cause he could move and hit. however i dont think #11 from AC is fast enough to play LB anywhere big D1 like purdue or those other places. D2 or D3 he is good enough to get some early playing time definately but if he wants to play anywhere D1 he's prob gonna have to get over it and be patient. LB has become such a speed position lately colleges are spreading the field more and they need LB's that can run with TE's and WR's you have to be an all around stud to play it. ya that does make sense about rogers doin to TTU his big bro plays there wasnt he a DE?
  4. Luke Smith from Catholic wont play D IA. Either ivy league which is D IAA or some D3 that is a really good school. Sams and Rogers are both too slow to play RB anywhere. Rogers is too small too. Sams is a load though maybe DE or OLB? Howanitz might be a little too slow but he should be able to find somewhere at RB or DB. is DeVonte Hawkins the MLB for AE? #42 maybe?
  5. its an awful thing that has happened and i truly wish it didnt. i dont believe the kids should not play but every other part of me wants them to. it is the right thing to sit them but i want AE's best to go against KC's best. their actions show a massive disrespect for anyone and everyone who has supported them or associated with them in any way. yes the media has focused more on the 8 football players because like it or not athletes are looked up to because of their talent, skill, and dedication. it takes a special kind of person to put in the kind of hours these kids do for the love of the game. that is why i am baffled by what they have done especially when they are making a run in the playoffs and playing the best football they have all year. i believe the coach has every bit to say in this matter and he cannot shy away from his responsibilities. i have no doubt in my mind these kids are good kids at heart and good kids, even great kids, make big mistakes. just because it was a dumb mistake does not mean it should not have consequences. and the whole argument about innocent till proven guilty is completely ridiculous. they were caught red handed on tape and then tried to run. show the coach the video and thats proven guilty. i feel bad for the coach to have to watch all his work that he put in get flushed down the toilet but this will be on his conscience for a long time if he doesnt do the right thing
  6. i dont think it matters to be honest. it is almost a given that these two teams will be meeting in the third round of the playoffs so who wins this one doesnt have that much of an impact but the real question is "can one team dominate and win both or is it going to be a trade off? and if it is a trade off who wins the game that matters?" but i think catholic's defense wins this one for them by 7 or less
  7. ae has way too much speed for an undersized and slow webb team
  8. they got murdered. their no huddle offense did seem to help them out a little bit on the second drive the catholic defense looked a little winded but other than that they got it handed to them. catholic ran all over them then passed all over them then put in the second string and didnt slow down
  9. toss up between fulton and catholic. both lost alot of seniors but have some promising under classmen. i think it'll be 1.catholic 2.fulton 3.farragut 4. bearden and halls has been a joke the past few years maybe they'll do something eventually besides chase their own "rear end"
  10. devrin is 5'7'' and 150 lbs dripping wet. ill be interested to see if he doesnt get snapped in half after a few carries. every week he will be going up against people who weigh more than twice as much as he does. i guess it doesnt matter if they dont catch him but nobody scores every time they touch the ball. to be honest i think he's way too hyped up his shear lack of size takes away from his ability to put up numbers on the field. anyone can put up numbers in the weight room or on the track. but i would like to see him prove me wrong
  11. sorry forgot to mention dorian cozart is at catholic not bearden. but ya it'll be fun to see how this year turns out
  12. How about the kid that devrin played under at bearden that goes by the name of dorian cozart? he's 5'8''-5'9'' and i've seen him throw down a basketball two handed. not to mention i hear his bench is up to 315. he's a solid, explosive rock that brings some "umph" to the party when you're trying to tackle him not to mention he can make you look stupid in the open field. the last few games of last season he was putting up atleast 150 a game on the ground as a sophomore that was still growing and learning alot. watch out for him this coming year
  13. i think the refs do the best they can and its a two way street. they certainly dont get any sympathy from any fans. they are human and its not exactly easy to see every single little thing that goes on in a game. some may be incompetant but in reality the better team should not ahve to rely on calls to win a game. it should be a good game and im very excited. i hope catholic wins ive heard they had a very good week in practice as opposed to the past few weeks. maybe they will step it up this year. austin east will by no means lay down in this one though and it will be four full quarters of good football. hopefully the fans can show as much class and respect as the players do considering they(the fans) are adults
  14. some catholic fans give others a bad rep and its terrible to see. gridironguy is a perfect example along with this latest comment. there is a mutual competitive respect between these teams and i hate to see the fans ruin it.
  15. his brother is one of his biggest fans and supports him in all his endeavors im not surprised that he was upset. but if i had to pick two kids on catholic's team that can handle adversity, work their butts off, and love the game of football its zak tait and zach vann. they happen to be very good friends. another one of their good friends is the punter and he tore his LCL in the spring scrimmage playing fullback. all these knee injuries are horrible but the kids are very resiliant (*sp). i wish zach and zak best of luck in their recoveries and its my guess that they are both getting swole upper bodies and gettin after it in their rehab. i cant wait to see them get back
  16. vann is done for the season. pflieger had a concussion so its possible that he could come back but probably not best. that being said he is a senior and this could be his last game since its the playoffs so im sure he'll want to play just depends if the doctors clear him. jacob giles and garret trussler will both be back returning the defense to its good ole stout self and robins will be back too which is very good for the secondary. but yes cozart and farris stepped up big time and will have to again but with the holes the o line was opening up i think anyone could step up. catholic by 14
  17. on one of gibbs scoring drives they had four long pass plays. all four of those seemed to be over the safety that replaced robins. coincidence? gibbs played a tough game like a team with nothing to lose which is exactly what they were. definately gave catholic a scare but how many scares is it gonna take to wake catholic up? the complacent play calling had something to do with it too. i can understand running the ball to control the clock but why would you run with second string backs when your big play wide reciever is having a field day with the opposing secondary? get up by the slaughter rule however you have to run or pass then put in the second string so your starters dont get hurt. there is something to be said for finding a way to win no matter what though. catholic is still 11-0 and the man to beat. a win is a win is a win but improvement is neeeded
  18. i agree RRC. Cozart is a phenomenal athlete with some great break away speed. every time i watch him it seems like he's one bad read or one shoe-string tackle away from breaking it wide open and turning it into a track meet (which in my opinion he will win 99% of the time). not to mention he blocks well from the wingback spot and makes you pay for tackling him. hopefully they'll get pflieger back and theyre definately getting back giles and trussler which gives the fullback spot some real power. the fullbacks have run through some defenses on occasion too. i know gibbs defensive line wasnt exactly what they'll be facing against a Fulton or AE but Catholic rushed for over 350 yards without pflieger and vann. thats a testament to their offensive line and running back depth. the fumbles were huge on the other hand. fumbles and penalties kept gibbs in the game and those backs have to hang onto the ball. im sure the coaches will fix the fumbles and possibly help cozart with his vision. i think catholic will be ready to give opponents all they want and more in the offseason
  19. AC is a quality team i just think that they dont match up will against a very good fulton team. AC matches up well against a kingston or a Catholic who is big physical and runs the ball. it is a well known fact that AC struggles with the pass and it is a well known fact that fulton's strong point is the pass and they arent half bad at the run. i do think AC's defensive front will give fulton's o line all they want and more and i think AC has a very good chance of beating fulton but im not so sure its gonna happen. this may be a slight down year for fulton but they are always ready when it comes playoff time. they've proven that 4 times in the past five years. it will be a very interesting game to watch no doubt as will the catholic AE game but thats a discussion for another thread
  20. offense puts fans in the stands, defense wins championships. fulton wins by as many as they want. too much speed to contain. that QB will have fun running for his life from bubba stokes. heck of an athlete and a game changer
  21. i talked to him last week and he's been redshirted.hes gotten even bigger and shaved his head. im not positive but he should be starting in zebikowsky's(*sp) place next year. hopefully they'll try him out at some offensive or special teams stuff. they had some great recruiting classes they should be on the rise but who knows. i wish him the best of luck
  22. if Fulton and Catholic meet again then it will definately be much closer than the first meeting. fulton has a nice little way of turning it on during playoffs. i still think catholic will come out on top in this possible match up. their d line made fulton's o line look pretty bad but i guess we will see. i definately dont think that either team should overlook any games though. AE and AC are both very dangerous teams. right now catholic's most important game is gibbs because its the next one. it doesnt matter how good you are in the regular season, in the playoffs you still have to prove it
  23. both fulton and AE are very dangerous. they can take it to the house on any play, offense defense or special teams. special teams will play a big role in these games and defensive turnovers will help immeasurably. i think catholic's stout D and discipline will show in the post season. its very hard to completely shut down extremely athletic teams such as AE and Fulton but i think KC's D will do a good job. their offense has to step up big time. the best defense is a good offense
  24. i dont know much about carter besides that when they're passing game is on then they are a pretty decent ball club. i think AC is pretty similar but they do have the running aspect to their game with rogers and they're QB longmire maybe can make some plays too. i think it'll be a good game and AC takes it by 2 scores
