OMG!! When I watched it I thought he was for real and I just could not imagine some idiot doing that. I was thinking this was a kid in need of some serious help. Glad to hear it is all fake. Whew! Just what this world needed was one more crackpot!

Hmm, hadn't thought of that one, duh! That sounds good, but then I can hear a parent complaining for me picking on Sally Green Head because I don't like her hair. There is no winning this one. I do think that kids have all the time in the world to express themselves outside of class. There are very few jobs where they can do it - Heck! I can't even do it. If we have a tattoo, which I don't, we would have to cover it up. So, nope -"free expression" should not be allowed for some and not for all. Whatever.

Is that a "for real" picture or just a photo shopped picture? It is beautiful, at any rate.

I have had some good student teachers, and I've had some not so good student teachers. A couple of suggestions (I do not know what grade you are in, so some of this might not apply to you) - Please grade and give papers back to students in a timely manner (No, I don't think the end of the student teaching experience is considered to be "timely") - Please have your lesson plans prepared by or before the date they need to be turned in so your cooperating teacher can look over them and offer suggestions (No, I don't think that giving them to the teacher at 7:20 on Monday morning is "timely" either.) - When the teacher makes a suggestion to you (especially if it is something the principal is requiring in the school) please listen and do as suggested. This will go a loooong way towards making friends all over the place, which is a good thing if you are planning to use the teachers as a future reference. (No, I do not think that when I ask you to have the students read aloud that it is the same thing as having the students read silently. And...no, I do not think it is a good thing (after again being asked by the teacher to have the students read aloud) to say to the class, "Now let's read page 25, OUT LOUD", and look at the teacher as you say it. - Also, when or if you call in sick from student teaching, please be sick and not off coaching a track meet somewhere because your whole life all you've ever wanted to do is coach track and so that is why you decided to teach. So, please be sick if you are going to call in sick. Well, those are some suggestions I have for making your student teaching experience a bright and happy one for all involved. But, it sounds like to me that you already are well on your way to doing that. Congratulations! JW

Well, 15, I disagree with you. Now, I usually don't care how a kid wears his/her hair, nor, really, what color it is, but that green was too bright colored for me. I know that as I stand up in the front of the class and I look around that my eyes will easily, way too easily, be drawn to the green head. I've seen kids with maroon hair, and dark, dark purple hair, that doesn't bother me or distract me, but bright neon colors do. So, nope I don't like it. Now, as far as the article goes, especially the last paragraph or two, I tend to agree with it, but hey - I figure that if hair color is the worst thing I have to worry about in my classroom, that's ok - just don't come in looking like a neon lightbulb.

Now, for my "Fall trip" - I am hoping to go to Halls High School sometime in October to get some practicum hours done on this MLIS program I am taking. I have 200 hours to do, I have done 40 - and the schools around here during our fall break are all on the same schedule as we are so I need to find one somewhere that isn't closed. My mother-in-law lives in Halls, so I am trying to see if I can go there. Still waiting on a response. We'll see. Great Fall Trip - huh?

Oh brother. We have now created a 3rd sex. Who would have thought. On an application for a job, for school, etc., where it asks: Male, Female - we need to add a 3rd box: Other.
