Let's a say Vick is running an underground poker circuit with big name athletes, celebrities, and their entorages. There is a game at Vick's property, a guy doesn't have the money to pay his losses, Vick pulls out a gun and kills the guy because of it. You think there would be an outrage like this?
Or, let's say it's not dog-fighting, but ######-fighting. Same principle, letting animals fight it to the death and the winner takes the spoils home. Is there an outrage over it?
Has one person here heard one person in a complete outrage because Vick was gambling illegeally?
Anybody heard the clamor of the side-issues connected with the dog-fighting circuits?
It wasn't the Barbarians in Rome watching the slaves and Christians being fed to lions for sport and entertainment. You think we've come that far in 2000 years? How long did it take and how many people died in the 20s and 30s for some regulation in boxing? If there was ever 2 legit heavyweights in the ring again, could you only IMAGINE how much tickets would sell for? Wrestling.....how many wrestlers have died in a relation to issues because people pay $$$ to go and see them "entertain". Daily, girls are kidnapped, sold by their parents, etc. into prostitution slavery. And that's not in the middle east. Forms of it happen in America. Where's the outrage?
Don't get me wrong. In no way do I think what he did was not wrong. My problem isn't with the punishment for the crime, but in comparison to other crimes.
Leonard Little takes a person's life and doesn't miss a mini-camp. Ray Lewis basically stands and watches his entorage kill a guy. Gets off. One of the most popular figures in the NFL now. He was the man in the league's main promo in 2002 I think.
My problem is the outrage because this involves animals that have become more valued lives than other humans. There's something majorly wrong with that.
