  1. They may feel like they are gonna have a hard time going up against nearby programs like Alabama and Georgia. But I have wondered it in recent years as well. Why they tend to focus so much on recruiting the west coast than they do in their own backyard. It would seem to me that I would rather have a kid ranked slightly lower that was a local with some skin in the game in regards to region pride and tradition.
  2. Several schools got popped for recruiting this summer.
  3. Not Jackson County. Trousdale County and Watertown at the top. East Robertson, Westmoreland and Cascade will fight it out for the remaining spots.
  4. Is this one of the capsules from TNHighSchoolFootball? If so I've noticed over the years they are quite often incorrect. I will say the same as well about Gordy. The good news for you guys in 4-1A is that Republic is gone right when they were staring to put that program together. I doubt it will change that much as of right now they wouldn't be anywhere near close to 2A numbers.
  5. I almost bought season tickets for a program a few years ago because I knew that I would be going to all the games. I thought maybe it would be a little cheaper to do it that way. Nope it was the same price. If it is the same price per game and you get no perks then what is the point? In my case I ended up having to miss a game so I would have paid for a game that I didn't get to attend. I know another lady who paid for season tickets for her family only to have her son kicked off the team. You don't think she regretted that decision? The only reason is just to support the program. At least the one I'm talking about above. Some other schools may have some perks.
  6. Its funny the people on here saying that it doesn't happen and quotes the rules lol Who knows how many kids are going to school and "living" with family in one zip code and going home to another zip code every day. I know people do it outside of athletics for other organizations and academics. Surely nobody is naive enough to think it doesn't happen for athletics.
  7. Is that final? Because it seems light compared to other years. I mean last year they had RBS, Smith County, Clay County, Station Camp and Gallatin.
  8. Anybody heard anything about the schedule for 2019 for Trousdale County? I know that Lebanon has replaced them with Gallatin. So that is one spot. What about Whitwell? Was that a 2 or 4-game deal?
  9. Some schedule announcements for the 2019 season. Lebanon has dropped Trousdale County and Antioch and will instead play Gallatin and Centennial. And drum roll please.... Mt. Juliet is gonna play Blackman
  10. You have regions where there are only 4 teams and everybody gets a playoff spot. So its possible.
  11. It isn't just a football thing. Athletic participation is down in most sports especially for young men. I was reading an article the other day talking about how the military is having a hard time with recruits because this current generation of kids coming out of high school have the highest percentage that are unfit for service.
  12. Go on youtube and Watch Westmoreland vs Jo Byrns from last year. I promise you it couldn't have been as bad as that game. Westmoreland got called for something like 21 penalties for 279 yards. One of their kids got in the refs face early in the game and it was over after that.... I was telling somebody yesterday that Lebanon was gonna win 35-7. I wasn't that far off. Coaching I'm sure is some of the issue. But Lebanon is considerably better than WC this year. But they better beat Station Camp.... If they lose to Station Camp then yeah the folks at WC need to break out the pitchforks.
  13. I think they finally got tired of everybody talking crap about it. Even Murphy Fair was giving them grief about it on the radio. But this is good for everybody involved glad they got it down. I will second that
  14. I may not be reading it all correctly but it looks like this seemingly would hurt people in larger areas that may move within the city limits.
  15. Yep all they need is for East Robertson to beat Watertown.....
  16. I don't think its that big of a mess. Clay County just has to beat Pickett County to get a playoff spot. The winner of Monterey and Republic gets the other playoff spot. And the seeding doesn't really matter considering that Whitwell and South Pitt are the 1 and 2 seeds.
  17. Jackson County is ranked 322nd in the state out of 342 teams. They are 1-7 and that win was 14-0 over 338th ranked Red Boiling Springs. Like somebody else mentioned Cascade beat them by 28 points.
  18. Meigs is ranked 71st in the state and Polk County is ranked 164th in the state. For the sake of comparison Oneida is ranked 151st in the state. And Meigs just beat them 35-0.
  19. Scottie Pippen without Jordan in 1994 was NBA All-Star MVP, finished 3rd in the league in MVP voting and was 8th in the league in scoring, 2nd in steals, 19th in assists, 23rd in rebounds etc. He was All-NBA 1st team and All-NBA Defensive 1st team both seasons that Jordan was gone. So the notion that he was only good because of Jordan is nonsense.
  20. I watched them play a couple times this year and they only had about 15 players. I am not joking when I tell you that their depth chart has starters for both sides of the ball and then backup 1, 2 and 3. When somebody has to come out or gets injured then backup #1 goes in regardless of position. Then so on.... One of the games I watched they were down to 12 players by the end of the game and could barely run a play and had multiple punts blocked because they were getting blown up on the line every play. RBS has been playing decent as of recent years but this year looks like the old RBS teams that went years and years without winning a game.
  21. Yeah the 3 teams they beat have a combined 3-21 record. The region is already decided these last couple games don't matter because tie breakers are already set as well. #1 Watertown #2 Trousdale County #3 Westmoreland #4 East Robertson
  22. Disagree. The Bulls that first season without Jordan went 55-27. They lost in a 7-game series to the eventual Eastern Conference Champs New York Knicks in the 2nd round of the playoffs. That is pretty good for a roster full of meh role players.... Scottie Pippen is considered a top 50 player of all time. That isn't arguable.
  23. People often forget that the Bulls of the 90s usually had 3 or 4 guys in the All-Star game. MJ was amazing no doubt but Scottie Pippen is a top 50 player of all-time and you had guys like Rodman, Grant, Armstrong who were All-Stars and some of the best role players in the league. And you want to talk about teams having all the talent.... OKC at one point had Kevin Durant, James Harden and Russell Westbrook and didn't win a championship. So much for all the talent ruining the league. I'm curious about this as well. Because I know in just the few counties I follow a blowout a double-digit win or more is far more common than a close game. The Boston Celtics from 1955-1991 had 3+ Hall of Fame players on their roster every year. And most of those years they had 5+ on the roster. They had teams in the 60s that had 7-8 Hall of Fame players. So yeah this isn't new.
  24. I don't see it. Its gonna be between Marion County, Polk County or Bledsoe County. Marion County has already beaten Bledsoe and plays Polk in the last game. Polk plays Bledsoe this week. If Bledsoe beats Polk then it will be Marion County regardless of what happens in that final game. So lets say its Marion County. They are 3-4 with losses to 3A Sequatchie, South Pitt, Tyner and 5A Rhea County. They lost by a touchdown to Sequatchie. They got blown out by SP and Tyner as would anybody in this region not named TC or Watertown. And Rhea County is a solid 5A team they lost by 13. Sequatchie and Rhea County are both ranked considerably higher in the state than Livingston Academy and about in the same area as TC. And Marion County was able to play those teams close while Westmoreland got blown out easily in those games. Out? Out of the playoffs? No. But pretty much by having to play Tyner in the first round.
  25. The way I see it is that I seen TC vs Watertown weeks ago. And that was a 1-point ball game. And IMO Watertown has better players than Whitwell at least based on last night. I didn't see anybody from Whitwell that just had me say wow that kid is good. I watch 4-5 high school games every week so I'm used to seeing guys that pop to me. I didn't see anybody like that on Whitwell last night. I heard all week about this RB from Whitwell and he ended up with 18 carries for 58 yards. That means they have a great TEAM. But Watertown also had a great team but had great athletes too. One of Whitwell's own coaches even said that TC had better athletes and were glad a couple kids weren't more involved in the offense. Which is exactly what some people are saying in this discussion. And Whitwell's coaches seen it too. In a 49-25 game that was over at halftime. I would think that Whitwell's defense may have been playing a bit differently after they got up 35-7.... And Polk County is gonna finish 2nd in Region 3. The 1s and 2s will meet in the 2nd round. And Watertown will meet the Tyner/TC winner in round 3. This is where Sonny Moore has those teams in Region 3 and 4 ranked overall in the state with his system. 58. Watertown 80. Tyner 94. Trousdale 169. Polk County 215. Marion County 226. Westmoreland 235. Bledsoe County 269. East Robertson 291. Tellico Plains 298. Cascade 324. Jackson County
