  1. Lots of pieces to this situation. Region sites are submitted in advance to the TSSAA for approval. Some are denied. They are supposed to be a "central" location but with the new classification, there are going to be some issues. If the traveling district wins all 4 first round games in either boys or girls tournament, then the semi-finals and finals will move back to the traveling districts home area. I don't believe they will move the finals only. That is in the control of the TSSAA. Most districts have it in the by-laws, if the tourney is moved to move to the district tourney champions gym. But, I can assure you it should have been discussed in advance. These people who run these tournaments are actually pretty smart and invested. Just because people don't know the specific details and you don't understand, doesn't make them stupid. Just look at all of the people in the stands complaining about " three seconds, over the back, that's a foul, play my kid coach, shoot it, etc., etc.
  2. Don't forget that A LOT of coaches wanted this change to four classes. There were some that even wanted to go to six classes like football. Yes, the BOC voted for it. But, not without input from coaches and administrators. It is a catch-22. There will be 8 boys and 8 girls teams in the state tournament this year, that would not have been there without the classification change (the first in 40 years, unlike football that changes every other cycle it seems). Ask those schools, coaches, players, and communities how they feel about it.
  3. District is arguably the weakest AAAA district in the state. Not to say that Coffee and Franklin Co aren't respectable teams. Region is not the strongest, but is ok. I was surprised that Coffee Co won the region, but playing at home is a huge advantage. Stewarts Creek is the better team, but this game will be played at Coffee Co and they can win a one game series. Good Luck to Coffee Co.
  4. Who/Where is Josh Templeton?
  5. Why would you name a coach at this time? Basketball is currently in season. Wouldn't you wait until the season is over?
  6. Lebanon Green Hill Cookeville Wilson Central Mt. Juliet
  7. Should be some good games. I'll take Green Hill, Mt. Juliet, Nolensville, and Page. MJ has lost a few in a row, but seemed to play better against Green Hill. Not sure what's going on with SC. I think I saw a 12-6 win over Hunters Lane. If that is correct, they are not playing well.
  8. Lot of Pride on the line in this game. Does MJ have to win to make the playoffs?
  9. This is certainly the game to work on anything you want. Will definitely give any team confidence going into the playoffs. Just hope it isn't false confidence.
  10. Springfield 24-10. Does Portland miss the playoffs if they lose to Springfield and Henry Co based on the Kenwood loss or does it come down to who wins the Kenwood-Northeast Game?
  11. Just as an outside observer, I expect this to be a tight game. It looks like most Beech fans have already chalked this up as a win. That would probably be an indicator of how the Beech players feel also. That could be poison. On the other hand, many Gallatin fans have written off the Wave. What is the mentality of the players? Does Gallatin have an advantage at the line of scrimmage? Beech may have an advantage as far as D1 skill position players, but I can't imagine that Gallatin doesn't have some athletes in the secondary and backfield. What effect will the weather play on this game? I think there are lots of questions that will be decided on Friday night. It looks like a Beech win, but...........
  12. I agree with what you said, just took the account with only 4 posts as a little suspicious. But, you may be correct.
  13. Let me see......Created a new account after MJ gets blown up. You must be a disgruntled player? A disgruntled assistant coach? A disgruntled parent? A disgruntled fan? Or possibly a poster who has used a different name and didn't want to get blown up like your team so you created another account to not have to answer for previous posts? Just guessing.
  14. I'll take Oakland in this one. I think Riverdale's defense is solid, but Oakland is solid everywhere. Oakland 31-14.
  15. They should get a good draw in the post season. Would be heavily favored in round 1 against Region 6 #3 or #4. Second round would be harder as they would either play Page or probably #3 from their own league (could be MJ or Green Hill). But it is a huge turn around from 1-10 last year.
  16. Not sure about the humbleness part. Haven't seen that side of the coach very often. Yes he is a good coach.
  17. Sadly, the kids aren't the only ones to blame. Some Coaches promote this also. Telling kids they are D1 when they are freshmen. Other adults label them the same way through social media, 7 on 7 teams, camps, recruiting services, etc. 15-18 year olds are easily influenced.
  18. I agree with all except I'll take Portland over White House.
  19. I will take Brentwood in this one as well. However, I would not be surprised if HC finds a way to win. Both teams have good tradition and success doesn't go away quietly. Kudos to both teams for the tough schedules they are playing. It may help out in the end.
  20. Not sure where you got the numbers for schools etc. In Tennessee there are 332 Public schools playing basketball and 72 Private schools playing basketball. Comparison of the two states has no bearing any way. Coaches will adapt if the shot clock comes about.
  21. Is Gallatin waiting on Blackman to decide about the Oct. 8 date?
