  1. Where's the tournament? Both district and regional?
  2. That’s what I initially thought. But he was comparing Memphis as the “little brother” I got a laugh out of it.
  3. I got cha. I'm sure it's quiet up there, which I know some people like it. But being way up there is the biggest con of living in Tiptonville I guess.
  4. This doesn't make sense to me. You mentioned that four players got snubbed from LC, but you said they are "probably better than any defensive lineman they for that all state team." Are they better or not?
  5. Other than their quarterback, what makes this job appealing?
  6. If the NFHS makes it mandatory, then the TSSAA will make it mandatory as well. TSSAA will potentially get sued by the NFHS for not forcing a mandatory rule. Me, personally, I think it needs to happen, but I know it won't. I wish we can have the luxury of hiring more officials to be "shot clock operators" but we are struggling to hire basketball officials as it is. A more luxury alternative is to find a way to sync something with the shot clock. Maybe if something hard hits the rim, the shot clock automatically resets. I don't know if there is good enough technology for it. 30 seconds would be my preference.
  7. Absolutely agree with you in the fact that the "rezoning" did hurt Liberty compared to North Side and South Side. However, I do believe that all three schools pretty much have equal talent if their coaches can utilize that talent. No question that all three schools should be in the playoffs year in and year out.
  8. Congratulations to him, and shutout to Germantown for giving a 28 year old a shot at a 6A school. I was fairly impressed with Fairley this season, and I believe he'll do just fine. It'll take him some time, but by 2025 I would hope to see him thrive as a Red Devil, and he'll only be 33 at the time.
  9. I know that Coach Taylor will be fine. He’s going to be okay, and I would certainly take him as a WR coach if I have the opportunity to do so. Therefore, Coach Taylor can coach kids and still be coached at the same time. Problem is, Coach Taylor wasn’t ready to be a head coach. The programs that he was assistant at, was not remotely good (FW and Haywood). When Turner left (I think was in June) I’d imagine Liberty searched and was desperate for a coach, and leaned with Taylor. Liberty is also having a “culture” issue. I don’t think they have the fundraising or booster club compared to several programs. In addition, with 5 other schools in Jackson, it’s hard to have first quarter sponsors or “First Bank first down” as they do in Lexington. In addition, JMCSS isnt willing to cooperate with Liberty in facility updating. Remember, Liberty isn’t even 20 years old yet, so they’re lacking the alumni presence in Jackson compared to other schools. Instead of building a new football stadium with an 8-Lane track around it, they could just move bleachers back and add two more lanes to the track at Liberty, but it just makes too much sense. Liberty also had a pretty stellar baseball and softball program, but both have gone down to talent, and overall commitment for both coaches and parents. It’s sad when they have to play softball at Muse or Pope Park, when there is a softball field at their school. You can’t blame Liberty for their downfall, it starts with JMCSS. Liberty’s facilities could have been compared to Dyer County, Independence, and even Summitt. But spending money and maintaining those facilities was the problem, JMCSS didn’t go “all in” into athletics, and still haven’t. So, this new coach will have talent, but that’s it. No support from school district, administration, and even boosters/parents. No legit field house, and you’re competing with South Side and North Side, which are now established with the coaches they have. I wish Liberty the best of luck. Prediction on coaches: Anthony Wallace or Scott Akin.
  10. It’s not necessarily “toxic.” It depends on the school that you work for.
  11. I thought about doing something that is unique for West Tennessee fans. Here's a list of teams records (winning percentages), quarterfinals appearances, semifinals appearances, and state champions. The reason why I posted this on the 1A&2A is because there is a higher amount of 1A&2A teams in West Tennessee. If you complain about the list, tell your team to do better next decade. Record (winning percentage) 1. Henry County 106-25 (.809) 21. Haywood 67-50 (.572) 41. Obion Central 33-71 (.317) 2. Huntingdon 97-27 (.782) 22. Trinity 66-52 (.559) 42. Who could have the biggest turnaround? Who could have the biggest downfall?
  12. Because where has Westview been in the last 3-4 years?
  13. I have a guy that Westview people would love to have, and potentially need. He doesn’t have the experience. But he’s a “low risk, high reward guy.”
  14. Teddy has burned the bridge of being a head coach again with his statement. And despite “not getting a fair chance” he’s known the players and he inherited a program that can be a contender for years to come. Unfortunately, Teddy didn’t do that. 5 of the 6 Milan losses this season was by 1 possession or fewer. If he had beaten Huntington, I still believe he has the job. If he escaped the McNairy game and one more game, I think he still has the job. Point is, Teddy didn’t finish at the end of the games, where it became crucial. In addition, Milan is starting to lose to their main rivals (Peabody (0-2) , Huntington (0-2) SGC (2-1 I believe, and Covington (1-2 I believe, could be wrong) on a consistent basis. I was shocked by this, but evaluating the program, I am not overly surprised. If I’m not mistaken, two years ago I thought we mentioned the current coach at Westview to be Milan’s coach, but something about pay is why he didn’t get the job? Didn’t we mention that Milan didn’t get the big hire because of pay? Regardless, I don’t think Teddy was Milan’s first choice to begin with.
  15. I doubt that’ll be true. Wiseman will play again this season. If he doesn’t, it’s the NCAA’s lost.
  16. And I’m glad y’all are okay with going to the sweet 16 with the best team arguably in program history.
  17. This has nothing to do with “character” or anything like that. James, himself, is an amazing outside, and a great person. He’s doubling down and played Wiseman because he feels like it’s right, to show support and back up his player. What’s wrong with that? Back on the Tennessee situation, it’s something that the east side of the state blew it up and made it a story. I’m hoping Tennessee fans are ready for another Sweet 16 and below season. If the TSSAA brings the hammer down on East, then that’s fine. Go ahead, but we all know, they missed their chance to do so.
  18. Truth be told, I don't think Penny Hardaway or any player from East cares about the state titles now. They won the games, and the players got their rings.
  19. Just curious to hear y’all’s opinions on this. I noticed that the drive for D-2 in the playoffs is massive in terms of distance (obviously we are talking about across the state). My question is: What is the travel like for this type of game? Leave on Thursday and spend the night in a hotel, and come back after the game? Leave Thursday and spend two nights in a hotel? Or, leave on Friday, play the game, and come back on Friday after the game? This is where you would like to be apart of a D-1 college football team...
  20. I'm leaning with White House Heritage in this one, if the Patriots can do their business and limit their mistakes. Lexington's issue has always been the fact that can't find any balance in their offense, and that's why this team has been pretenders for a few years when November rolls around. I watched this team play North Side (without their best player) and the Indians gave them the game in the 2nd half. However, don't be surprised if they throw the ball if WH's defense bring their safeties down and load the box. In terms of throwing, they don't really throw the ball deep downfield, just mainly short and shallow routes. Unfortunately, Region 6-4A has been disappointing this year. I thought it was Hardin County's district to lose, and they did their job. Chester County went 0-10, Liberty did improve in terms of the win column, but they're definitely not good at all. South Side dropped in terms of talent, and North Side lost their best player and potential Mr. Football candidate. Somebody had to finish 2nd, and it was given to a mediocre Lexington football team. White House 35-17.
  21. Make sure you fill your car up with gas when you hit Jackson.
  22. I know what you’re saying but we have just started a new cycle of non-district games to play for the next two seasons, and Liberty has been horrible in the past two seasons. Therefore, it’s a cupcake game. I know the current situation Liberty is in, and the news you’re telling me, isn’t nothing new to me.
