  1. Wells goes out and gets pinned in the first round
  2. Could also possibly be kids being out for contact tracing
  3. Independent-Game Participation Section 21. Once a student’s name is listed on the school’s eligibility report, if a student participates in an independent game in that sport after the first contest date allowed and before the season has closed or his/her name has been removed from the eligibility report at the request of the school principal, the student shall be ineligible at the varsity level as explained below. Any organized game in which players not registered with TSSAA participate – regardless of whether admission is charged - is considered as an independent game. Once a violation of this rule has been confirmed, the student will be ineligible for the remainder of the season in that sport. A student's name may be removed from the school's eligibility list (TSSAA Portal Roster) upon written request of the principal prior to the first official contest date allowed in that sport without penalty. After the first official contest allowed, a student’s name may be removed from the school’s eligibility list (TSSAA Portal Roster) upon written request of the principal, and he/she may then participate as an independent without penalty. If the principal requests the state office to remove a student’s name after the first official contest date allowed in that sport, such student may not again be certified during the season of that sport. Students may practice with an independent team regardless of whether or not scrimmage situations occur at the practice for the independent team as long as the scrimmage situation only involves the independent team that is conducting the practice. A group of students who are assembled to try-out for an independent team is considered a single team regardless of the number of students involved. This rule does not apply to bowling, golf, tennis, wrestling, cross country, and track and field. This is literally copied from the TSSAA handbook. It took me about 1 minute to find it if anyone wants to look for themselves.
  4. If done correctly wrestling can be in my opinion one of the safest. Record practice partners everyday, limit practice partners to 1-2 other kids, you know exactly who each kid wrestled in a dual meet so very limited contact tracing needed. With basketball especially, but even football you are face to face with a different person 30 or more times during the course of a game or practice. Maybe I am biased and I understand that the "extremely close contact" is definitely alarming but wrestling out of the three sports I mentioned is definitely "exposing" the least amount of kids in my opinion
  5. Might be the most exciting event in neyland all year
  6. Chairman isn't up for election since our current chairman doesn't even live here and bowers got fired?
  7. Why does Dooley have a bye in the first round?
  8. Marty Wheeler from Covington hired as Cleveland’s new head football coach.
  9. From what I saw there was a bad call by the officials in the 113 pound match and Coach Miller wasn't exactly happy about it and I believe he got a point taken for not going to the table to question the call, but instead was saying things from the bench but like I said I could be wrong. Wouldn't have mattered anyway because Bradley would have won on criteria for winning more matches. I believe it was 8 matches to 6 matches but Science Hill had more bonus point wins.
  10. I'm all for this but what happens if a wrestler can't make it?
  11. I guess all you have to say if you're moving from private to public is that you can't afford it anymore and that's the reason you changed schools. Not gonna get denied a hardship on that.
  12. Luke Belcher is still in middle school I believe. I think he was just a 7th grader last year but I could be wrong.
  13. We have a dual Tournament 12/1 at Cleveland Middle. Lake Forest, Ocoee, Liberty Bell, Trion from GA, and a couple other teams are coming if you're interested. Please email emountain@clevelandschools.org
  14. Not that I don't think Reeve is qualified because I'm sure he is, but if the program is going to head in the direction that people want it to, you have to hire someone that is relevant and can get the best kids to UTC. Now I know UTC will never get a bluechip guy like a Spencer Lee per say but I truly believe that the right coach can attract really really good kids to come but you have to have someone that is a relevant name that the kids know. There is not one high school kid in the country that knows who Ethan Reeve is.
  15. Trae McDaniel is a fargo All American!
  16. Cleveland Middle School is selling one of our wrestling mats. The mat is 38x38. It is an older mat but would make a great practice mat but could also be used for competition. We are asking $2000 for it but are willing to negotiate on the price, and you would need to be able to pick it up. We will have wrestlers to load the mat at the school if you buy it. If interested please contact: Eric Mountain emountain@clevelandschools.org or (423) 718-3848 Evan Vermillion evermillion@clevelandschools.org or (423) 383-8215 or you can contact our athletic director Scott Carroll at scarroll@clevelandschools.org
  17. Isn't there a TSSAA rule prohibiting the amount of times or distance that a team can travel out of state?
  18. 106 McDaniel 113 O'Callaghan 120 Palmer 126 Horst 132 Brown 138 Story 145 James 152 Sweeney 160 Diehl 170 Fowler 182 Salter 195 Buckman 220 Boeck 285 Kramer
  19. 126 is pretty tough. Not as many returning placers but you have 3 state finalists, 2 state champs, and another in Pond who when he has placed he has never placed worse than 4th.
