  1. I'm taking Peabody by 14 plus. Westview's line isn't that good and Peabody has an All-Star coaching staff and players to match up with the WV receivers. The streak continues......
  2. I want to say 3, but don't hold me to that. I think the short blonde guard is a senior, but she may be a junior.
  3. Very true, but it seems like everyone says that about them every year. I know they have an 8th grader, who is being recruited by many major D-1 schools for her pitching ability in softball, and she's a McElhiney(?)/Sims too. Several believe that she would've gotten major minutes this year on WV's team as an eighth grader. She should free up J. Harrison and WV will be a lot faster next year. I personally wish WV would've stayed up one level, but we should have some good battles between us. I'm looking forward to our matchup and I think we're set up to do well against them. I don't know if we could've gotten past Summertown or Loretto this year, but next year we're going to be a lot better. Glad we had the opportunity to get there. Let's do it again...
  4. Best outside performance that I've seen at State in many years. 70% from the 3 for Grainger and WV couldn't figure out where they were at when they shot. WV was front rimming it all week with that extra arc line. Grainger put on a high percentage clinic. They're a very good team, but I have a feeling WV might make it back another time or two. Looks like GC and WV will be battling next year...maybe it'll become a rivalry again. Congrats WV on a great season. You're appreciated and you have a class program/players/fans. Good luck to Grainger as well. Macon County looked pretty solid today.
  5. I don't see Grainger shooting 70% from the 3 tomorrow, but either way it should be a barn burner. That was the best long distance shooting I've seen and the basket must of looked like a garbage can to their guns today. I don't know who wins this one.....coin toss?
  6. Congrats to both Summertown and Loretto for making it to the Championship. Should be a great game and should come down to the last minute.
  7. Two great programs going at it! I enjoy getting to watch both SS and WV play and you know at this time of the year, they're going to bring it. SS's power, speed, depth, and full court game and WV's ability to focus (it seems) year in and year out to be playing great ball after Christmas. Hopeful that SS & WV both make it and get a Part 2 this season.
  8. Keep us up-to-date. Seems like a good battle between 2 AA powerhouses at The Horse Shoe tonight in Martin.
  9. 2 Region Championships going on tonight in NW Tennessee and both of them are close battles. I love this time of year.
  10. ...and we're glad to see Mckenzie up there as well. (from Gibson County).
  11. Don't much about the 3A teams, but the top 5 in 2A and 1A look pretty much spot on at this juncture of the season. I don't think a lot of teams (especially the good ones traditionally) really care about state rankings in early January, because the games have to be played and in the end the cream rises to the top. Happens every year.
  12. I'd venture to say from the West will be South Side and Westview....again. SS is complete this year with their big girl back in the middle & their pressure and WV is WV and have a highly sought sophomore guard who can ball. I'll be pulling for both of them to make it to the 'Boro.
  13. Greenfield lost 2 of the best players in the State of Tennessee and they're small with a very short bench. We've been spoiled over the last 3 or 4 years watching them, but every school goes through the cycles. McKenzie is a very good team and they're a tough over there. I'd like to see us play them again, somewhere down the road. They played a great game against us and they've got some players. UC will be a very dangerous team in a one and done scenario. UC has had some issues early on and they've played a couple of pretty good teams as well to acquire a few of those losses. If I had to chose to play Greenfield or UC, I'd rather see GF later on personally.
  14. Talked to a WV dad and said that Henry County just flat out beat them (scoreboard, rebounding, hustle plays, etc). He said WV was either 3 or 4 out of 30 from the 3 point line and they overguarded their super sophomore (Harrison) and shut her down. He said it was definitely a "bad" night but they're going to be ok. I thought it was a incorrect score when I first saw it posted myself.
  15. According to one of my UC friends, the WV girls held UC to 13 points during the first half and to 0 points in the 3rd quarter. He said WV is as deep as he's ever saw over the last decade and play shutdown defense. He said the boys game was a lot more interesting and came down to the last shot. UC has a good girls team and holding them scoreless for a period is almost unheard of. WV and SS should meet up near the end, if they don't play each other in a Christmas tourney. UC will be a force in our tournaments come end of season. They have 2 girls that can flat out ball.
  16. Should be a great game. Good luck Golden Tide. Make Gibson County proud.
  17. The Lady Pioneers are doing well and playing better at this point of the season compared to what I was expecting....this early. Keep it up girls!
  18. Congrats to Coach Trevathan. Good to see a local coach move up. I've watched him for years and overall, I think he's done a good job.
  19. I think this virus is real, but "fear" took over and unfortunately it cheated these young women (and men) some life-long memories. I believe Greenfield would've won Single A (in a close one over Loretto), but there's nothing for the young women to hang their heads about. They all did what they were supposed to do and when it's out of their control, it stinks even more. I agree P about flu & infections. Wasn't it like 3 years ago, when Westview had 5 girls test positive for the flu and 2 of them were starters. Westview missed a shot at the end in regulation and then got beat in OT. I believe it was Alexis' dad said that even if they had won that game, they wouldn't have been competitive the next day due to how the flu hit them. Hopefully, football will be able to get in some games and then it'll be back in the gym. I've heard alot of folks say that after this election, this virus won't be as popular. I'm starting to believe that too. Have a good 4th and we'll see you in the late fall.
  20. From the West in A, I think Gibson County-Huntingdon-Union City will be the front runners. In AA, I'd say Jackson South Side-Westview-Covington will be the front runners. If SS stays healthy and with Currie-Jelks back in the mix, they will be a handful in AA.
  21. Congrats to Chloe. IU is getting a great player and a great individual. From your fans and friends from GC, we salute you. You've been fun to watch and always classy.
  22. Congrats to Harrison. That's a huge offer for a freshman from out area. They're typically top 5 year in and year out as of recent.
  23. ......and we haven't even considered the boy's side of the equation yet.
  24. He/She lost me when he/she said Chadwell would come off the bench for Greenfield. That individual does not know Loretto b-ball. Chadwell from Loretto would start over at least 2 others and if she didn't, then it'd be purely political. McBee is fun to watch as well for a freshman. Everyone stay safe and practice some "social distancing".
