BEST RUNNING BACK TANDEM

Guru,

I stand firmly by my comment. If you will review the various posts on this thread, you will see the topic DOES continually discuss the best tandems EVER. I see your point about the Blount backs being good, but the thread CLEARLY mentions ever. Of the 7 posts before your response #1,2,5, and 7 say "ever" or "history"

Now that I know your intent wasn't to claim they are the best ever, I see you're not high. Let's smoke a peacepipe.

As mentioned eariler

2003 Jefferson Co Patriots with Scooter Houston and Jeff Jennings- thread is about tandems, but the Pats also had Arron Carson who gained almost 400yds, and Chris Shiverdecker. That group could prove to be the most talented backfield to ever step on a field in Tennessee.

2000 Alcoa-Speed, speed, and more speed. Ran over, by, and around every defense they faced.

I wonder if its a coincidence that Scott Meadows coached both teams..........and people say the wing t is boring.

Once again the jennings and houston duo were good but were shown up and left in the dust by OR's Gulmire and Booker in the second round at the 'ship in 2003 thumb

I don't know about a tandem but i'll give you a trio: 2003 Huntingdon Mustangs-- Terrance Bell, Chris Donald, and Boo Weathers. In my mind they were the best backfield (all classifications) at the state championships that year.

I'll say that anyone who argues this is an idiot.

that is why you guys lost, jeff and scoot were outplayed by cory and spencer.

Wrong, we didn`t lose the game because of lack of scoring(24pts should be enough to win), we lost because we came in cocky and played crappy defense, we lost because of a lack of effort. The game was the worst job of tackling that I have EVER seen. Spencer and Cory were met in thier own backfield MANY MANY times, but they almost always broke the tackle. That is effort, the OR backs wanted the game a lot more than the Jefferson Co defense. In fact as a team, OR wanted the game more than Jeff Co did, offense, defense, and special teams. That happens a lot when two very talent teams meet, the team that wants it more wins, usually by a lot. I have no problem admitting that on that night Cory and Spencer were the better backs, but overall I have no doubt that Jeff and Scoot were just as talented, if not more talented.

On a side note, where did Cory Booker end up going. I know he was looking at Tusculum, but I never saw if he went there or not.

    • Harriman was better than what I anticipated. They had good skill guys and a QB that’s gonna make a lot of teams look silly. They had some silly pre snap penalties but it’s just spring and I guess that’s expected.    Oneida looks the part. They are big upfront and got a stable of backs that’s gonna carry them this year. They have a few playmakers at receiver also. They have a new receiver that has only played basketball till this year and he is very athletic. The question is can we find a QB to consistently get them the ball. They played 2-3 kids there and none looked great but they didn’t look awful either. The  defense is gonna be tough again but it’s very early and a lot can change between now and the fall.     It was good just to get out and watch some ball. I don’t know if Oneida has the team to win the region this year but just what I saw tonight I think they may be in the conversation come November.
