Div 2 next year

Division 2 will continue to be competitive despite the graduating of some fine players across the state. If you look at the 8 schools who participated in the State Tournament, most return a core group of players. One team that that stands out in my mind due to the number of underclassmen (especially sophomores) they played is Evangelical Christian School.

If you look outside those teams that participated, the team that seems to lose the most in terms of players is Baylor. This was a school that played a number of (talented) seniors this past season.

With all that being said, four teams to keep an eye on next year are: CBHS, McCallie, ECS, and Knoxville Webb.

Don't forget about Father Ryan. They only lose three consistent senior starters. They will have a ton of experience for a team that made it farther than any Middle Region team in the State tourney, and even beat the state champs before running out of pitching. They should be solid in every aspect of the game next year.

Baylor does indeed lose many starters with seven seniors leaving. However they should be very competive in Div. II with returning Chattanooga Best of Preps, LF Michael Brown ( .410, 4 hr, 27 RBI), and p/1st Coty Green ( 6-2 , 1.68 era- .357 , 29 RBI) along with catcher Rowdy Byrum (.280, 3 hr, 25 RBI) and Ut Trey Dyer plus many other solid players who had significant time on the field. Should be a strong team if pitching holds up.

catsbakr,

The AAA schools are the ones that created D1 & D2 and now you want to talk about a big fish in a little pond. While I agree that AAA is of better quality than D-2 on the diamond why not put them back together and see how those big fish do in a big pond? I think that you would find that the better programs would compete quite nicely.
