medman
Hey Leonard, didn't know the holders for the extra points got invited to those camps. You must have had great hands (just kidding) HTV--I think you are right about the Burnette kid. I knew the plan was they were going to move, but I was told they had already done so. My bad. See what happens when I listen to rumors. Edited June 10, 2005 by medman
OkStFan1525
I Think Rockwoods Zach Breazeale is a really good QB he is only a sophmore but he got put out during his freshman year cause of a fatel fall during a pratice that broke his shoulder but he is back and is ready for the 2005 season watch out! Guest rip25
Boys are we talking Pro-Style QB's or 1950's option attack specialists? Seriously, from someone who has been at the college level, how can Helton and Watts even be compared to Harb, Stanton, and Fiegler, if we are talking modern day college football? Helton and Watts are both great athletes, but what type of QB are you talking about? Helton couldn't see over a D1 OLine no disrespect, yet again, a great athlete and football player, but again what type of QB are you talking about. CAK never gets any credit from anyone because they are a private school, yet they might have one of the greatest offensive minds in East Tn calling the plays and very smart QB's who have good size and great arms to execute. Two years ago, CAK went to the State Semi-finals with Cunningham playing QB and he got no respect until the playoffs, yet he was the leading passer in East Tn all season. I guess Austin Peay didn't care that he was at a small private school, because he is now there backup QB from what I here. Last year and this year CAK has Harb who has probably the strongest arm in East Tn and is on several recruiting lists and all everyone wants to talk about is Helton and Watts. Well, when Tom Osborne goes back to Nebraska hopefully he will give them a call. You also have the QB at Alcoa who has been offered by Vandy and you have the kid at Carter who threw for more yards than Harb last year and is a more pro-style QB than either Watts or Helton and from what I have heard, Alcoa and Carter's QB's can run with the best of them too. What I would say is that the Knoxville area is truly blessed with QB talent this year. We have Helton, Watts, Fiegler, Stanton, and Harb to watch this year and it should be fun, I would like to see them all play if possible. So, I think we should support all of the QB's because they are all good QB's, it just depends on what you are looking for.
Bledsoebtheboys
I just wanted to see what people thought about this topic. Zach Helton might be the biggest playmaker under the center in the state. His feet and his vision of the field can make a defense want to fold up sometimes. Knoxville doesn't seem to have any other great QB's besides Helton. 825687812 Is this Helton guy anyway kin to Todd Helton of the Colorado Rockies? HTV
Is this Helton guy anyway kin to Todd Helton of the Colorado Rockies? 825689000 Yes, he is his first cousin. Todd's dad, Jerry, and Zach's dad, Joel, are brothers. Joel is also the head coach at Knoville Central. Todd played his high school football and baseball at Central. phs5
Watts has been offered by Eastern Kentucky already and is getting a lot of attention from Louisville and Ohio State right now. He's being recruited as an "athlete". He's running in the 4.5s and has the ability to play either a receiver or DB spot at the D1-A level. He could play quarterback at the 1-AA level. 825687974 Just so u know HTV Watts is runnin consistent 4.4s now
HTV
Just so u know HTV Watts is runnin consistent 4.4s now 825689293 I appreciate that, but he's not quite there yet. The numbers I get come from sources in the football program. Cody is a legit 4.5, which is pretty darned fast.
PigSkinRules
HTV I have a question. We all know that Central returns all but three starters from last year and they have a promising "stable" of receivers, call me crazy, but in my opinion they might be a better team with Zach at the slot or wideout out position being used as a playmaker much like Shavar Young and Terrence Scott. IMO Kenny Cruze is very capable of running the offense as he is quite similar to Zach under center. Maryville will rebuild the offense, but returns what may be the stingiest defense in the state, And IMO any Quarles coached team will be a continder. Now, on to my question, honestly what are folks close to the team such as yourself expecting from the panthers this year. I read the nice article about Lee Smith in the Sentinel and he sounded VERY optimistic, to say the least. I have a lot of respect for you and the Panthers as your post are always very accurate. Just looking for a realistic opinion.

I would have to disagree with that. I went to a camp with him last year, and he's got a pretty good arm, but not the best in East Tennessee. And besides guys, we all know that 2-A football is like backyard gun-slinging football.

And besides guys, we all know that 2-A football is like backyard gun-slinging football. 825689452 By 2-A football, i would assume you mean Region 2 Class A or Class 2A, the Warriors old region or their new classification. Region 2, the home of Midway, Coalfield, Greenback, teams that are gonna stuff the ball down your throat, and when you cant take anymore, theyre gonna keep stuffing? Or maybe you mean their new region, 2-AA, with the likes of Oliver Springs, Sweetwater, Loudon, and obviously Alcoa, and besides the latter, all of which are gonna stuff the ball down your throat as well. So for this whole "gun-slinging" im not quite sure what youre talking about, and i dont think you know what youre talking about either. And yes, Harb does have one of the best arms in East TN.
