Tennessee was winning 20-6 in the 3rd.  Kentucky came back to win it 41-27 and that's a final score.  What's up with Kentucky high schoolers beating Tennessee's like this?

That game was a democracy. The coaches that coached this game started the kids they had coached . Terence Scott should have been playing wide reciever. According to the stats he had the most recieving yards in all classes during the school year. The coach decided that in the last two minutes of the game when Tennessee was getting whooped, they wanted to play Terence. He returned a 60 yard punt and shook their defense. Yes I am upset because my brother should not have even wasted his time going to this game if the coaches had it already set in their mind that they were going to play kids they had personally coached...........

I do not know how the players were picked, but it seems strange to me that there were no players from some of the top teams in 5A, such as Riverdale, Franklin, Germantown, Oak Ridge, Dobyns Bennett, etc. There were also no players on the roster from Brentwood Academy or MBA, who are consistently two of the most talented teams in the state. Could anyone tell me how the team was chosen and why so many players from such strong teams were not included?

An embarrassment for yet another year. Looking at the roster and not seeing a bunch of names and where the coaches were from gave me the heads up that nothing would change this year.

You're right-politics and organization plays a huge part.

As well as obviously not a bunch of pride. Once again, players treating the game rather casually. I was under the impression that if you're given a chance to compete, especially if you are among the chosen few, in a game representing all of Tennessee High School football-you give it your best? Coker the leading rusher with 16 yards on 11 carries?

And to end the game on a cheap shot and a fight?

Didn't we lose last year on a fumbled punt return?

To get smoked by Kentucky is a joke. Maybe the joke is us.

Pull the plug on the series-we have no heart for the fight.

    • I have no idea who your team is, but Memphis and other Shelby Co. schools have hardly made a dent, if you’re talking Game 15 appearances. Outside of a couple by Whitehaven, I can’t recall the last team in a final.
    • Robbed you guy at a chance of 3 state championships. You never kne, sond best team in the west my have beat you also, but you sure deserved the chance to play um.
    • Eagleville also loses Brown the catcher, Lamb CF, Mclemore RF (Heck of an athlete) and Drew the 1st baseman. They will be young.
    • Good thing we aren’t in Florida then huh? It would benefit a ton of the smaller schools  that don’t have the pools of kids to choose from! They should start by policing Shelby County like they do the rest of the state! Something has to change though and TSSAA knows that!
    • Correct, you can whimsically be fired in coaching. A coach that has tenure can stay on as a teacher if released from coaching. If you don’t have tenure as a teacher, you can fired without cause. Your last year as a teacher before tenure is earned you can be fired, but must be given cause. A tenured teacher can be fired, but it is a long hard process requiring the 3 D’s…. documentation, documentation and documentation. I have released 3 tenured teachers, 2 with PHD’s. However, teacher contracts had and still have clauses that state you can be fired for a variety reasons re: being arrested, public drunkenness, inappropriate relationships ect.
