NWTennSports
A lot of great movies mentioned here. I can't rank any one over the other, b/c I like them all, so I'll just list some of my favorites. -- Hoosiers -- Friday Night Lights -- The Sandlot -- Major League -- Rudy -- Rocky I -- Miracle -- 61* -- Caddyshack -- Eight Men Out -- The Natural -- Dead Solid Perfect (good HBO movie from the 1980s with Randy Quaid and a very hot chick who later played Joey's "Basketeer" girlfriend in one episode of Friends. In fact, I think Tin Cup is somewhat of a take-off of this movie.) -- Bad News Bears In Breaking Training (for some reason, I just love it. But, I'm not really a fan of the other two. Don't ask me why. I can't figure it out either. I haven't seen the BNB remake with Billy Bob Thornton yet.) -- The Longest Yard (both are good, but I like the original a little more) and, I'll mention two Costner movies, even though I think he takes himself too seriously, which tends to slip into his acting ... -- Field of Dreams -- Tin Cup

MrPeabody
I'm glad someone mentioned Eight Men Out, it's an amazing film. I might also add Bang the Drum Slowly to the list: early Robert DeNiro about the relationship between a pitcher and a catcher who is dying of cancer...a bit dated but very moving. I need to try to find this one again. Plus, Randy Quaid can actually play golf, which makes the film a little more believable than Tin Cup with Don Johnson's atrocious golf swing. Vikingalumnist
I am not a fan of womens boxing, but Million Dollar Baby was a gut wrencher. It was all about guts, desire, and passion to win.

dieselsteele
How about Necessary Roughness? It had our very own ex senator Fred Thompson. Also, you can't go wrong with a movie with Sinbad in it. Edited September 2, 2005 by dieselsteele
jrock20lr
Anybody ever seen Legend of Bagger Vance? Now that is a very good movie, go to Wal Mart its only 5 bucks on DVD. Worth way more than that. The Sixth Man is probably my favorite movie of all time though.
