Top up and coming coaches

Who are some of the top up and coming coaches around the state that are looking to leave their mark this year?

New Elizabethton Coach Larry Weems has inherited a solid nucleus from last year's state tourney team. He was a head coach at West Greene a few years back, but has never had this much talent to work with. I look for him to lead the Cyclones deep into the season and make a name for himself at the state level.

I'm interested in seeing what Chad Hibdon can do at Blackman. I've watched him coach middle school teams at Smyrna and Rock Springs and he really impresses me with his poise, game planning, ability to make changes and team preparedness. I would be shocked to see anything major happen this year, given that he is looking at a huge rebuilding from the start.

 

I think Blackman got the steal of the decade getting Hibdon. Time will tell.

I concur with your statement about Hibdon. I think Siegel's fast rise to prominence helped by Hibdon being on staff, doesnt hurt that hes a Oakland alum

He has done very good job with limited depth since taking over. He will make Goodpasture a top tier program in a few years.

Looking at this from a wider angle and the selection of personnel three years ago, the head man at Siegel, Head Principal of an 1850 student High Profile Campus, Ken Nolan , in his selection of the total organization including athletics, assistant principals, teachers, choral directors and total educational experience teachers had to have been one of the major organizational accomplishments of any startup school. In that regard, in athletics, the pace that each has achieved along with getting the student body so involved speaks well of the adminstration and the student body. Assistant coaches, Hibdon and others, in most every sport have made their mark in the schools success and have added to the success of the total program. One might say that zoning, etc, had something to do with it and it did but the follow thru and the stretch for excellence in every phase makes this schools programs a place to attend everytime there is an event. Students have great creativity and a great sense of school pride and with the help of visiting teams and student bodies gives those attending a lot of anticipation when attending an event.b

In our region we have 4 coaches in district 12 that are by far the best around. In District 11, the Lynnville Coach, Hall, has took a team from 5 wins a season to 20 wins a season, with not much talent. He knows basketball. I am surprised a bigger school has not picked him up. With talent he could do big things.

WOW!! He must be good He did all that "with not much talent" I guess he shot and scored, dribbled, and played defense all by himself from the bench "with not much talent" for him to improve the school record that much. ptgard 12 There are lots good solid players some with a great deal of talent from Lynnville in the past and present. And that remark shows " not much class"
