I'm taking William Blount in this one. WB rebounded from that early loss and beat every team they were supposed to beat for the rest of the season...and at least one who they were not supposed to beat. I think they might be more battle hardened than Sevier County after seeing two of the state's top teams in Maryville and Oak Ridge this season.

Is the WB QB back for this game?

Would this be the first time WB ever made it out of the first round (if they win)?

As of right now Crosby is the man for WB. Wall is going in to get an Xray this week we will know more after that. He doesnt believe that the doctors will release him tough.

As for the game it will be a great one all WB wanted all year was a rematch b/c they knew that they didnt play their best football that 1st game. Whole different defence Crosby in a CB 5 picks 7 games, Bell at outside linebacker enough said, new DTs

Offence will get everything they want and some more from a very very sound defence in SC. Line is blocking with a lot more confidence. Walker and Osborne are finally living put to the hype these last 3 weeks.

Talking to the guys last night they said that they are finally becoming as one(had to get rid of some bad apples).

I think if WB stays away from the penalties they can pull off the upset at a very tough place to play.

This is going to be a great game as long as the refs let them play ball. The last time these teams played it was ridiculous with the officiating. Lets have a good clean game...

WB - 24

SC - 17

Go Govs!

It is palyoff time so the TSSAA brings officials in from other regions that way there are no local boys and should be no " home cookin. " :D

Some concerns from my WB perspective:

* Sevier County had great success through the air against us in first meeting. Basically, they exploited our cb's I thought. Their "wheel" pattern tore us up. Will we be able to stop that?

* Can we move the ball in the air? Sure, we have an incredible one-two punch at running back, but we can't allow Sevier to put 8 or 9 guys "in the box". We have to have some passing attack. Will Crosby's strong arm be accurate and will he look at anyone else besides Rhodes?

*Will our young men play disciplined football? At least twice this year, at key points in games, we've had gains to the opponent's 1 yd line brought back 15 yards because of dead-ball unsportsmanlike conducts. Both times, we've been lucky that the penalty didn't affect the outcome of the games. We can't afford these type of undisciplined mistakes at this level of play.

If we can achieve success in these three areas, I believe we have a very good chance of advancing.

Any word on Wall's status? Is he "day to day" or is he "unable to play"?

You must be smoking some of the stuff that killed Elvis! Sevier Co has the best coaching staff in the state aside from Maryville. It doesnt matter what Meadows has planned Coach Kenny Ratledge will have a counter, I gaurentee it. I like SCHS in a close one. 24-17

Please SC does not have the best coaching. The way that WB has been playing is thanx to the coaches. i think that WB is going to kill them.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
