philip2003
Now I don't know much about girls basketball, but I know a good player when I see her. The best in by book are Kayla Christopher (Oliver Springs) and Taleah Armes (Wartburg). I know both of these girsl are getting playing time in Varsity. Any more good ones out there? MCHSBballfan
McMinn Central (AA) has a few, but the best of them is Kylie Lambert. I haven't counted up the points and stats, but last night in a game with McMinn County (AAA) she had to be the top scorer, top rebounder, and top in steals. There were moments of the game that you would have thought that it was the "Kylie Lambert Show". At least a couple of times she made a steal or got a rebound, threw the outlet pass, then followed up to get the Offensive rebound and put it in. If you're going to have a Top Freshmen list, she belongs at or very near the top of it.
bballnuts
Kingston has an incoming Freshman, #42, Tayler Smith. She's been getting a lot of time and has started the last two games they've played. Although Kingston will struggle this season, they are very young and will only get better with time. Smith is a 5'10 post player that plays aggressive, once she adapts to the speed of the high school game, she will be the lady jackets go to player. Kingston also has two sisters that are Freshman, Jennifer and Jacklyn Givens that have a lot of potential. TennTarpon
Nicole Dickson from Greeneville. Should dominate with her size and agility. Will be big time college prospect if continues to develop and keeps her head on straight.
RadioJet06
Ive got to add the Lady Jets into this fray with Freshmen Center/Forward Destiny Dishman. Destiny has unintentionally gotten some serious playing time early in the season due to the foul troubles Lady Jet and TTU signee Jennifer Hood has been experiencing (I think the refs are out to get 53). However, Destiny has shined for the Lady Jets expescially on the boards. Destiny Dishman a great rebounder and defender belongs on the list of the sates top freshmen!! adidas23
Ashton Owens and Kate Lowe from Scott is pretty good. They both get some minutes in varsity.
LHSalum
Mardessa Hampton from Loudon. She broke all the records in middle school ball and was the first lady to join the 500 point club. She's a starter as a freshman and is already making her mark in high school.
The Highlander
In East Tennessee, Cloudland Highlanders have four freshman on the varsity squad. None are starting, due to a talented group of upper classmen, but they were very strong in middle school and will make an impact. Brooke (BJ) Johnson is an explosive player and can go wild at any time in a game. Look for double figures whenever she is playing. Absolutely fearless player. Sydnie Buchanan is a major factor on the boards, and is huge on defense. Always has steals, blocks, and rebounds, like clockwork, every game. Shellie McKinney can play a couple different positions, and has put up 20+ point games several time in middle school. Can be dominant inside. Jordi Miller is a pure shooter that can be devastating from 3-point land. Just ask anyone that watched her performance in the Science Hill Christmas Tournament last year. All four of these are three-point threats also. Goes well with the other players on the team. Looking forward to watching them. wormy1
Good to hear there are some other good freshman. Who do you think will really contribute alot this year? And which are backing up really good players but are really good? My top pick is Tasha Phillips of Clarkrange.I watched her play her two years in junior high and have only seen her play 2 games this year. But,I would say it was two differant players, she has changed her game play tremendously!Make sure to watch this outstanding young lady this year. Chelsea Simbeck is seeing playing time every game as back up post and looking stronger. 2 freshmen to keep eye on in Southeast Tennesee.
