Dorris, Grogan, Dickerson, Seay, Lynch, Sweatt, Kennedy, Ford...take your pick...they will be playmakers for Greenbrier next year...along with a host of others yet to come to the forefront.

Williams replaces backfields at Greenbrier more than some of us change clothes I believe:

2001 Starting Backfield In The Season Opener:

Brandon Holder (Quarterback): got injured & was replaced by R. Herndon

Brandon Hajdu (Fullback)

Bobby George (Halfback)

2002 Starting Backfield In The Season Opener:

Roger Herndon (Quarterback)

Curt Williams (Fullback)

Josh Birdwell (Halfback)

2003 Starting Backfield In The Season Opener:

Hunter Norton (Quarterback)

Clint Russell (Fullback)

Roger Herndon (Halfback)

2004 Starting Backfield In The Season Opener:

Jacob Aldridge (Quarterback)

Clint Russell (Fullback)*

Roger Herndon (Halfback)*

2005 Starting Backfield In The Season Opener:

Kyle Herndon (Quarterback)

Troy Dill (Fullback)

Justin Pigg (Halfback)

2006 Starting Backfield In The Season Opener (PROJECTED):

Grogan (Quarterback)

Dickerson (Fullback)

Dorris (Halfback)

THAT'S A BUNCH OF NAMES THAT HAVE PLAYED KEY ROLES IN GREENBRIER'S STRING OF PLAYOFF APPEARANCES OVER THE YEARS :thumb:

This may sound crazy but I've got a really good feeling about this team for next year. It almost reminds me of my senior season when we had to replace Curt and Josh but had lots of key linemen with experience. I'll admit that I was very apprehensive heading into last season but that team erased my doubts and had a great season. Some key guys on the line this season will be Aaron Richie and Chris Sass, both have great size and gained alot of experience last season. I think these guys will open some big holes for Jody, who is a absolute beast in the weightroom, and Ryan Dickerson who is ready to step up and play how Curt used to at LOB and FB. If this team hits the weights hard during the off season, like I know they will, and once again find that chemistry this team could be better than last year's. Winning is starting to become habit at Greenbrier.

You are talking about the '02 team that had a starting backfield of Curt Williams (FB), Josh Birdwell (RB), and a super sophomore named Roger Herndon (QB). That was the first of these last four years where winning has came in bunches for the football program at Greenbrier (and you yourself were a big part of that).

That following year Coach Williams had a senior to be quarterback named Hunter Norton who was more than prepared to play at the varsity level. That made the move of moving Roger from quarterback to running back a pretty simple decision.

The reason I picked against them back in December like I did was because this time Coach Williams doesn't have that "safety valve" to fall on. Do you remember this past year during the preseason when Greenbrier could not find a quarterback and Coach Williams had to go against what he truly wanted to do and put Kyle Herndon under center to start the season against Lipscomb. Those two previous years Kyle got plenty of reps at quarterback while backing up both Norton in '03 and Aldridge in '04. The '03 playoff game against Sycamore Kyle played some huge downs at quarterback when Norton got injured. In '04 he got to play in many games where Greenbrier just spanked the opposition.

This past year that was not the case at all. Grogan played occasionally at quarterback, he even started the game against Station Camp (1-9), but when everything was on the line in the games against Pearl-Cohn and White House it was Herndon under center taking the snaps. Replacing the backfield duo of Pigg and Dill won't be easy either. Greenbrier graduated Mr. Football Roger Herndon after the 2004 season and he was a great football player who could not be replaced. The thing I got to say heading into last year was that Dill and Pigg both saw heavy playing time the year prior to the '05 season.

Do I really think Greenbrier is going to finish at #5 in the region when all is said and done????????? NO!!!!! At the same time I'll say that I don't see them winning the region championship this year. Spring practice and the off-season weight program is going to be as big as it's ever been this year in Bobcat Country.

 It's interesting to hear this explained TO someone who knows this team and it's coaches like the back of his hand. Not everyone needs a recap.

Hey indiansportsfan6, those standings look pretty accurate with the exception being that you left Spring Hill off of your list. There are 8 teams in the region.

I think that the real sleeper in Region 5-3A will be the exact same team it was two years ago (Montgomery Central). Harrison will be back at quarterback and Jackson is a tremendous back/kick return specialist. Rittenhouse is about to have a great three years at MCHS. Tablack is one of the better linemen in the entire region and they were a young team in '05 that will only get better as far as numbers and experience goes in '06. Rickey Ray is also one of the better coaches in the entire region, which is one that consists of many great football minds.

1.) David Lipscomb: may be the favorite to win it all in 2006

2.) Marshall Co.: anyone playing this bunch better plan on scoring to win

3.) Montgomery Central: read the post above

4.) Creek Wood: the fourth year program shined in '05 and should do so in '06

5.) Cheatham Co.: return some pieces from this past year's playoff bunch

6.) Spring Hill: a team that should also improve in their second year in 3A

7.) Giles Co.: lost coach, quarterback, wide receiver/return specialist, and RB????

8.) Page: the Pats are falling on hard times due to the fact that there are too many schools in Williamson County.

:D What a joke you are.... :o

And you have no clue who I am, do you?..."son".

I know who you THINK I am, but go back and check some previous post times if you think you know. There's no way that Justin was on the computer when he was on the practice field. He's good...but I don't think he can run the football and type at the same time.....or can he???

Whoosh...wrong again...Catfish..
