Hey indiansportsfan6, those standings look pretty accurate with the exception being that you left Spring Hill off of your list. There are 8 teams in the region.

I think that the real sleeper in Region 5-3A will be the exact same team it was two years ago (Montgomery Central). Harrison will be back at quarterback and Jackson is a tremendous back/kick return specialist. Rittenhouse is about to have a great three years at MCHS. Tablack is one of the better linemen in the entire region and they were a young team in '05 that will only get better as far as numbers and experience goes in '06. Rickey Ray is also one of the better coaches in the entire region, which is one that consists of many great football minds.

1.) David Lipscomb: may be the favorite to win it all in 2006

2.) Marshall Co.: anyone playing this bunch better plan on scoring to win

3.) Montgomery Central: read the post above

4.) Creek Wood: the fourth year program shined in '05 and should do so in '06

5.) Cheatham Co.: return some pieces from this past year's playoff bunch

6.) Spring Hill: a team that should also improve in their second year in 3A

7.) Giles Co.: lost coach, quarterback, wide receiver/return specialist, and RB????

8.) Page: the Pats are falling on hard times due to the fact that there are too many schools in Williamson County.

yes i agree there in the same boat they were a few years ago. last year i think they had a good shoot of goin to the playoffs but the injury bug settled in.

harrison and rittenhouse i think should split time at QB. With harrison they can run/ pass. With rittenhouse they can just keep it eith him. jackson should have a 800 to a 900 yard season. If the injury bug can stay out of Cunningham Rickey Ray can give Marshall a run for #2. Tablack will lead the Offensive line. The youth of Central last year i think helped Cetral alot. They had a good linebacker last year that #54 kid. A lot of talent there if he matures right. Coach of the Year might go to Coach Ray.

As for Marshall County That Hightower kid hes a BEAST. Hes got size, strength, and speed. With him and there Qb back they might have a season like past Marshall Team.

I thought i forgot someone. Spring Hill. They have a very fast ruinningback who i think if he wouldnt gotten hurt week 1. he might of helped Spring Hill win some games. They Have speed, and size. They need some strength.

giles lost Tim johnson. i didnt kno that. They will be near the bottom again. They had a lot of young and speedy talent. THey Have an awesome Reciever i believe his number is 4. All know is hes FAST and has very softhands. I was told he was a junior. might of been a senior. if so he would be a very good college reciever..

creekwood will have to look to replace almostr a wwhole defense. and offense. I do believe with cheatam, giles, spring hill, and page with tryin to refuel with youth. creekwood should come together and play as a team to make it back to the playoffs. maybe another game with jackson Southside. but with a good group of returing 2nd team linemen who saw a lot of playing time. Creekwood might be a sleeper like Central.

#4 for Giles Co. was Deron Garrett and he's a senior this year. The quarterback #10 Myles is also a senior. I believe it was selig42 who got on here yesterday and said that #8 Sam Edgmon, Giles Co.'s 1,000 yard back, is headed to BGA. If that is true then it is a killer.

David Lipscomb is returning five or six starters to each side of the football I believe and they'll be the unanimous choice to repeat as region champs.

Marshall Co. will have an explosive offense with Hightower at running back, Gower at quarterback, and O'Neal back at wide receiver. They could become a real state contender if they learn to stop anyone on the defensive side of the football.

I will tell you right now that Creek Wood, Cheatham Co., and Page are all going to look much different when they run out onto the field this upcoming August than they did last August. All three of those teams are losing somewhere around 17 to 25 seniors from their football teams and in the case of all three teams those seniors were guys that have started the last three years on Friday nights.

Spring Hill is a mystery. The back you are talking about is Johnathan Walker who ran for 250+ yards and 4TD's against Marshall Co. in week zero then disappeared afterwards. The thing is that everyone rushed for huge chunks of yardage against Marshall Co.'s defense last year. They were flat out terrible defending the run. Spring Hill has a very athletic quarterback in Magwan Smith returning and he can run the ball as well as throw a bullet. If they get any kind of a running game and can stop people defensively then they could be a sleeper in region play. The game with a Marshall Co. team that everyone thinks should be good in week zero will show how the Raiders truly stack up against the big boys in the region.

I am just a very proud mother and I know this is just a board and things on here really doesn't matter but sometimes you just get the urge to write something and today is my day. Now don't take things as being hateful because I am not that type of person, just read it as it is written and no more than that and if you can, give a little feedback:

catfish-hunter, Where do you get your information for Greenbrier? Do you know why Justin was a fill in QB for Kyle? Do you even know why Kyle was the QB at all?

Going into the season, Tyler was supposed to be and going to be QB (the coach had even let the paper here in Robertson County know this was probable) but at one of the scrimmages he had his shoulder messed up pretty good. He could not get it into shape so Kyle did the job (and well I might add).

Before Tyler could even think about QB, he ended up breaking his foot in the third game. He actually fractured it in the first game and didn't even realize it and played two full games until the third when it popped. (A little extra bit here, the surgeon told him that he would miss all of football season and probably the beginning of basketball BUT my son is super tough and determined, he was back for the end of the season and is doing well in basketball.)

Why am I saying any of this? Well, my son wants QB and is going to try hard for it, so please don't just state the QB position before checking things out. (unless you know something that we don't, then go right ahead and fill us in and IF you even try the "Grogan is the coach's nephew bit" it will not fly with us, the Coach doesn't play that game) Will he be disappointed if he doesn't succeed? Well, I am quite sure he will be a little but he will move on and support whoever takes the position and will kick butt at whatever position he does end up holding. We are a team oriented family! We have faith that Coach Williams will do whatever is right for his guys!

Another thing, where is Brad Martin? I cannot believe you left out Brad!?! I can't believe anyone on here didn't mention Brad! That kid should explode this year, I have no doubt in my mind whatsoever!

Greenbrier 5th is so very doubtful - if not in 1st again, then at least the top three!

I could go on and on but like I said in the beginning, does it really matter, just a proud Mom boasting a little, lol!?! <_<

getthatqb.... agree with you on Brad. He should have a huge year. you're obviously a proud mom... you say it in every post you put on here...lol don't get this wrong but he didn't start the year at qb. Didnt start the scrimmages at qb. If it was going to happen, the scrimmages and practice is where it starts. By the first game the shoulder wasn't an issue then. The coaches had Pigg and Herndon where they thought best. Dill the same. Thats why several players take snaps at other postions during practice. There was early talk of Ty being the qb but anybody close to the team knew that unless Kyle got hurt this probably wasn't going to happen and then it was between Justin and Ty. Our coaches will play the ones in the positions where they need to be. We have won a record number of games in the past few years so the coaches know what they're doing. You're always going to have players that coaches are going to look at for other postions but when it comes down to game time, they're going to go with their best shot. Some make better receivers. Some better ends, rbs, fbs.... Coaches talking about possibilities in the paper is just talk. The only one last year that was ever saying who was going to be the qb was you. Unless you yourself are there in the locker room or the coahes office your never going to know.

montgomery central can get back in the playoffs if they can figure a way to get a group of linemen together. limpscomb should be state champs. cheatam sorry guys but i think yall will be near the bottom with page. Marshall should be better. Giles who knows. 1 yar giles can be a run for the title then the next be the worst in the region. then creek wood. i would think they will be near the bottom. they have to refuel. Even thought i would think they are trying t get better. spring hill needs to figure out how to us that running back they have. hes got some great speeed and moves.

1. Limpscomb

2.Marshall

3.Montgomery Central

4. Creek wood

5.Cheatam

6. giles

7.page

Let's see..Page graduates a zillion Seniors. Several injuries this year allowed three returning offensive linemen to get experience. A super strong freshman class moves up. A super talented Qb who played both ways THIS year. Another shift in Williamson boundaries. Fact is, I don't see Page giving the Mustangs the best regular season game in the region like last year....but will they finish last...NO!

Name the last year Mont Central beat Page......or Spring Hill....long time baby...When Page plays Marshall co anything goes......and with the Giles coach gone ..who knows they start basketball practice in early Oct again... Creekwood lost heavy...Cheatham lost heavy...I think the order of finish in this region is up for grabs...except for our private school team. If Mont central finishes 3rd...Vanderbilt wins the SEC...and then pigs fly...Santa Claus gets stuck in my chimney..etc...................................................................................................................................

Oh yeah I thought it was Lipscomb..not Limpscomb...maybe they do limp..I don't know

Cat Fan, for me to take anything on a thread wrong would be as likely as me playing QB myself! <_< Oh I might get caught up in the moment like others from time to time but things said on here doesn't bother me, you would have to know me, too much in "real" life to carry around. (I actually use this site for a stress reliever) I only got upset once and that was because someone went too far off on here and sent me personal emails, but anywho I understand what you were saying.

And you are correct. People in the locker rooms, the coaches and whoever the coach decides to tell things to are the only ones to know things. And just as I stated in my post, we stand behind whoever plays whatever position, we are team oriented, it's that simple. Plus we believe in the coaches at Greenbrier!

Also, I can make this statement with a very clear mind and knowledge of my son: if some brand new guy walked off the street and was given the starting position on anything Tyler was trying for, he would still (in the end) back that person up. Would he be disappointed, yep, but he would still do whatever was asked of him for the team. He wouldn't quit because he thought he wasn't going to get to play. He would stand there on the off chance they needed him.

Dadgum me, I was bragging again wasn't I, lol@ me!! Gotta brag - is my only action in life that I don't have to pay taxes on or try to explain, lol.

Go Bobcats!

I am fairly new to the High School football scene and haven't been in this part of the country for very long, compared to lots of other folks. So I don't know the last time Montgomery Central beat Page. They beat Spring Hill last year...and did it very well.

I do know this Mr. Bulldog69. I know that Montgomery Central has a football field full of dedicated players, coaches, parents and fans. I know that the Indians play with all there heart every time they are out on that field. I never saw one kid quit last year. I never saw one kid that didn't try his hardest. I would go as far to say had it not been for the injurys and a few mental mistakes (both coaches and players) Montgomery Central would have won 3 or 4 more games last year. ( You can decide which games that might have been). That would have left them with a decent record.

Now with saying all that. Montgomery Central has several of there starters back from last year. William Rittenhouse, Benton Jackson, Chris Tablac, Evan Harrison. Just to name a few. They also have a great crop of this years Sophmores returning to the field as in: Justin Salsbury, Cody Yates, Josh Suiter, Matt Nagel just to name a few more.

So maybe this year Santa does get stuck in your chimney( if he comes to see you) , Vanderbuilt has a shot at the SEC and if ya throw him hard enough....a pig does fly........... ;)

True...but that doesn't mean that they will finish last in the region. Look at my above comments. Lots of new people moving into the area....so who knows.

Re-alignment ...baby!!! Independence is on track for 2,200 students in a few years....and no room for that many.

Yo Dog!

Ok...it is obvious that last does not sit well with you, so lets say maybe 7th??

The past is the past...Spring Hill and MC will definately give this Page team a run for their money.

"Super Talented QB"?????????????

It appears that Independence High School may be a sore topic for the Page faithful. Maybe the opening of IHS is finally hitting home for Page?

And you guys open up with IHS in the fall, right? I bet that will be a tough loss to cope with.

Anyways....Good Luck!

    • Hope the catcher on baseball team come back out and play's football . He didn't play last year if I remember but I don't remember much after that wreck anyways.. But he did play his freshman and soph years and I thought was a very good player. He's put on some size now, so I'm hoping he's thinking about playing again..
    • Pirates are young this year.  Gordy can sleep on them.
    • They’ll get it worked out eventually.Farragut is too good of a program to be down for long. As an OR fan, I can’t really say I’m too distraught about it though.
    • I didn’t even see that until you said something, but I don’t think it’s that bad. Yes, the coaches can’t get along with each other. But I don’t think they’re openly taking shots at each other right in front of the parents. If they are, that’s pitiful though, that’s really pitiful. I sure hope they’re not, but yeah, I’ve heard the same thing from players over at Farragut getting fed up, and I feel as though what the coaching staff has been trying to keep under the prying eyes of the parents is now out on full display.
    • and there is definitely a reason for that—more than just Catholic recruiting.
