I agree.... I think that most of the teams that play a slow down game and attempt to control the tempol MOST if not ALL of the time would have to speed up. The game is played at a faster pace now than it ever has been all across the board and it makes for much more exciting hoops.... good post, especially after watching some of the 06 tourney...

From the way I hear the teams from the East like to slow down the game the advantage would go to the West and they would dominate. The West has so much speed and likes to play at such a fast pace the shot clock would only hurt the teams they play against in the state tourney.

Let's keep it the ways it is! No shot clock. High school should be different that the pro's in some ways. They are not adults according to age, though some act more grown up that we adults sometimes.

Part of what makes high school basketball so much better is the fact that any team, regardless of talent, can force another team to play their style of basketball and beat another team. The whole point of coaching at this level is to find the best possible way of putting your team in a position to win. A shot clock eliminates too many teams. Would it be fair to put in a rule that you must control the ball without shooting for one minute before attacking the basket? Of course not. So why do the opposite? The better teams control the tempo and make you play their game whether fast or slow. It is basketball, not a foot race.
