Liberty had a great year. The only team they lost to was Bolivar and then finally getting over the hump going down the stretch really says something for this team. This is still a young program with many young and special kids. As long as their are no major changes, Liberty should be right back here come next season. Great job!

64-60 Liberty Great game just got back from the Boro. Liberty won game and state championhsip thanks to their great depth. 10-12 guys can play and contribute. Great season, enjoyed watching. Enjoy the moment, guys.

I was there to watch the Single A game, but stayed for the first half of this game. What happened? Did Liberty just play awesome? Did Mitchell fall apart? Did someone big foul out?

It was a combination of things.

 

1) Liberty started making shots in the 2nd half.

 

2) In the 2nd-half, Mitchell got away from what got it the big 1st-half lead: Thad Young on the low block. He was unstoppable....Inexplicably, Mitchell simply stopped putting Thad on the block....Your best offensive weapon does not need to be playing point guard, under any circumstances, IMO.

 

3) Poor coaching Mitchell (see #2 above, also) -- At the start of the 3rd Qtr, Liberty came out on fire. Mitchell was clearly out of sync. Yet, NOT ONCE did Mitchell ever call time out (they had plenty of T.O's available) to stop the "bleeding." IMO, this is where Mitchell lost the game. .....BTW, this is the exact same thing that happened to Mitchell when it wound up losing to nationally-ranked Dematha.

All these things add up to a heart-breaking loss for Mitchell.
