Maryville or Riverdale

I doubt that but we will see in 2009.

If we faced off in a game Gq and company would out smart the coaches of Riverdale. Not only that I dont belive Riverdale plays as a unit of eleven that maryville does. Yeah they have played Better compation, but so did Melrose. Riverdale might have the beter one on one but Maryville has the better 11 on 11.

Team work, discipline and coaching is why Maryville would beat Riverdale in a showdown.

Just because Riverdale has great atheletes dont mean they play 1 on 1.They play 11 on 11.Gaston Miller dont make 80 yard runs because he is fast and makes people look like idiots. Its because they line blocks, fullback blocks, and the recievers block. He would tell you the same thing.

I wouldnt say Riverdale coaches would get out smarted. To be nice i would just call these to coaching staffs equal. <_<

Good lord what a stupid post. Son....can you read and comprehend? Most of Riverdales opponents would have beat Maryville? Did you read where Maryville dominated Oak Ridge in a preseason scrimmage? Also, did you see Oak Ridge beat Riverdale in the play-offs? Yet you state that most of Riverdales' opponents would have beat Maryville? Sheeeeesh....try a little education...it is a good thing.

Well Son ive also seen Riverdale beat Oak Ridge 2 of the last 3 years in the playoffs and there is no way Rankin would be outcoached he is the most sought after high school football coach in Tennessee

If that were so then why did you guys lose to Oakridge. They are not the best athletically loaded team around, and from what I am hearing from you surely your coach or your players would have played as a team and over come this devecite.

If you were out maned your coaches should have had some plays in their playbook that could score some pionts quickley. If your coaches were equal to gq they could win games with less tallent becuse god knows we were sopposed to go 7-3 with maybe and trip to the 3rd round, No chance of going to the buro and a even bigger chance of beating melrose, a vastly suppior team athletic wise. But magically we beat teams with tallent going to such teams as Tennessee, Florida State, and Miami.

Im just saying if your team is so good and would dominate maryville where is the proof this year?

oak ridge game was a fluke really it was very physical and we did good in that area but every time we started driving we would have a turnover...just stupid mistakes. remember oak ridge scored their 2 touchdowns on their first 2 possesions, one of them gaston miller was covering a reciever (he played corner on defense) and tripped and oak ridge scored easy. oak ridge got their scores early and it was a defensive battle the rest of the night.

Please don't call the Oak Ridge Game a "Fluke", it takes away from the reality of the truth. I have seen each Oak Ridge / Riverdale game and I can tell you that out of those games, Riverdale has been “that much better” maybe two possibly three times. Were the other times just “Flukes” from Oak Ridges perspective? Also, since you guys like to compare with Oak Ridge, look at number 6, 27, 58, 75, 149, 265, 300, 328, 421 and 427 on the list below. It should give us a perspective on where we each rank in the big picture. Fluke….PLEASE, you were outplayed.

wow...some how i explained exactly how the game went and it becomes a lame excuse? riverdale was the better team last year, and believe it or not i would like to say oak ridge was the better team cause it would have made the loss easier to swallow (trust me it was hard to swallow, was fully expecting to have a ring right now and i HATED seeing our seniors who got us there with tears in their eyes). everyone unanamously (sp) agrees that oak ridge was the better team that night, which that is all that matters.

when i said fluke i meant on our part we played a bad game cause we didnt cover the ball like we were supposed to and had ALOT of turnovers. like you said we were outplayed and thats exactly what i meant. if we had a second chance or if the game was at home i feel like the results would have differed. also that chart doesnt mean much to me, oak ridge has been around alot longer. riverdale a little bit closer too, as they were 13-1 compared to oak ridges 13-2. also the left out 2 ties riverdale has had in the past in the records.

OK Oak Ridge Fans here is one R'dales fans view on the game last year.

Oak Ridge came out fired up with a really good game plan that R'dale was NOT prepared for. Then when we got down our play calling went to the 4 winds.

R'dale is predominately a run team and everybody knows it. Instead of running our 'nornal' game plan it was changed to a passing attack which we are NOT good at.

Why? I have NO idea and am still wondering about it. It was apparent from a purely fans view that things were NOT going smoothly on OUR sidelines and especially with our own coaches. When you have coaches yelling at each other it shows that things are going bad.

Our team was playing well and I fault NONE of the players. Blockers were making their blocks and opening holes that 'if' we were running GM could have WALKED 20 yards a play. Instead we ran some BS flanker passes instead of trying to go deep.

I have seen one post by one of our own R'dale fans say "They were not (players) prepared!", and to this I say BS! They were as prepared that night as well as any other night. What was NOT prepared for was the Oak Ridge PASSING attack!

To Oak Ridge, Congratulations! You earned that win.

BTW, y'all are fortunate to have Great Ribs also!

I played in the game and I can tell you the coaches had us prepared. We just didnt perform as we normally do. Oak Ridge played pretty much a mistake free game and they knew thats what they had to do to beat us. We made mistakes that cant be made at that point in the season. I put none of the balme on the coaches. Not many people have a ton of plays you can run on 3rd and 15+ yardage due to penalties.Like some people have said earlier, we arent a passing team especially when a pass is expected. Run,Run, Run, play action, thats what we are best at.

I never said that we would dominate Marryiville that i recall of.

    • Harriman was better than what I anticipated. They had good skill guys and a QB that’s gonna make a lot of teams look silly. They had some silly pre snap penalties but it’s just spring and I guess that’s expected.    Oneida looks the part. They are big upfront and got a stable of backs that’s gonna carry them this year. They have a few playmakers at receiver also. They have a new receiver that has only played basketball till this year and he is very athletic. The question is can we find a QB to consistently get them the ball. They played 2-3 kids there and none looked great but they didn’t look awful either. The  defense is gonna be tough again but it’s very early and a lot can change between now and the fall.     It was good just to get out and watch some ball. I don’t know if Oneida has the team to win the region this year but just what I saw tonight I think they may be in the conversation come November.
