Farragut?

Recommended Posts

Why would Maryville be in Region 1 if Heritage and William Blount have to play Region 2? To me Oak Ridge or Farragut could become a team to move into Region 1 or according to DCat McMinn would be out of Region 2 so that would open the way. Region 2 is West Knoxville/Oak Ridge, Chattanooga area, and Blount Co. that should include Maryville

i said that bc right now reg. 1 has 7 teams and reg. 2 has 8 assuming that no one would drop in classification. it's just a matter of filling space. but thats still two years away so no need to add fuel to this fire

Facts are facts. Maryville has almost the same number of kids as OR and has for years. They could choose to move up voluntarily anytime they wish. They haven't chosen to do so and have remained in a class where they are at the upper limit if not truly over the limit. I think Ross Perot callled it fuzzy math. When they get to play the DB's, Riverdales, OR's and a few others every year on a regular basis...give me a shout. It will be interesting. I agree they have a great program and admire their success, but don't get confused that they are in the top 3 teams overall in the state each year...it ain't so.

In general, heck yes. Last year maybe...but unlikley. Any given year...yes.

And that's what I think too, but to the people who say DB would dominate Maryville, that's not the case. If you put Maryville in 5A (which they will be, eventually), they will still have success.

03,

Oak Ridge doesn't play Campbell County and Karns. Maryville is the largest 4A school in 4A. check the TSSAA website under Classification. According to them, if Maryville had 1 more student, they would be 5A. Call it what you want, fuzzy math or creative administrating, they are within the rules. OR played up for years when they didn't have to. Not that Maryville is ducking anybody, but they will have to play the big boys everyweek soon enough. And I'm sure they will do fine, but the gold ball will be a little harder to come by.

    • I have no issues with the Karns Middle School program.   Good coaches and he's with the kids he goes to school with.  He's a rising 6th grader who had to play with 6th grade kids last year because Karns didn't have enough kids for a 5th grade age team.  He's in a good place at this point.   My daughter is a single mom with 4 kids under 11 years old.  We help her out with logistics, so staying in our own area right now is important.  Once he gets to high school age, who knows what happens?  That bridge will be crossed when we get there.
    • I know he was a backup but I thought he filled in well when the starter went down. Never a bad thing to have a change of pace back
    • That would be a good get for them. Lowe always finds a way. Pretty sure they have their Rb from last year returning but not that line of beef
    • One school has said it, it was York…who Oneida and many school that played them before we did claimed that they were the dirtiest bunch they’ve played. Riverside didn’t call us dirty nor did smith after they beat us. Ur only dirty if your the one giving out the whoopins.
    • If it was anyone but #8 I would agree with you. Theirs a couple people on that team that probably would. Not him. And I who was standing on the 1st base line fence saw clearly that the boys foot was covering more than half the bag.
