Most used Defense

Wondering what the most used HS defense is out there. In My day it was either a 5-3 or a 4-4 stack. I know thing have changed. So is it the 5-2 (with a SS) or 4-3 or 3-4 or something else?

 

I personally dont like the 5-2 for HS ball, unless you have some strong ends and a great nose-tackle. The Wing-t type offenses seem to eat it up.

The 3-3 Stack is becoming a very common defense on the high school and college levels. The split 4-4 defense is also a very common defense.

David Lipscomb runs a great 3-3 stack they used it alot against speard teams and it seems to always work for them but when i seen other team use it never seems to work, i guess its the personal

Lipscomb runs it well because they have down linemen who never seem to get whipped and their linebackers are in a word "GOOD". It also doesn't hurt that they never seem to make the stupid mistakes that cost them in the end of games (that's on both sides of the football). That all goes back to the great coaching that they have.

It depends on what kind of offence they are running.

we run a multiple 3-3. There are times we line up in an even front but we try to stay in our base as much as possible.

I don't really think it matters what kind of defense you base out of as long as your players are well coached, buy into the system, and execute the package very well.
