Dopie,

When you get your GED call me. They have 2 in last 25 years and 3 in last 26. If they won this year they would have 4 in last 27.

Ole Dad

If o r wins a state championship in 2006 that would only make 2 and that aint going to happen.Look at the bright side thanks to the ron brown rule o r might make the playoffs.

:) all this coming from someone that has had kids play through 4a but the majority that watchs HS football will say maryville would not have been as successful at the 5a level and beat OR like a rented mule huh lol doubt that very seriously :) but not trying to take anything away from mhs cause what they have done at the 4a level is amazing

Who is this "majority" that you speak of? I have no ties to Maryville or Oak Ridge, but if you don't believe that Maryville would have been successful in 5A football during this recent run you are only kidding yourself.

I've watched high school football seriously for 30 years and have covered it for both the print and broadcast media for the last decade. I've seen the better teams at every level of competition - both public and private. There is very little, if any, difference in the upper competitive levels of 4A and 5A. Maryville could have won state championships during this run, not necessisarily as many as they have in 4A, but they certainly most likely would have had the opportunity to win their share.

I have a great admiration for what Oak Ridge and Riverdale have been able to do in class 5A, but this elitist attitude among some who follow and support those particular schools is seriously misguided.

I have to agree with HTV. The Riverdale's, and Oak Ridge's elitest attitude for far less accomplishment has no reason. Although I do think they both are storied programs, they just don't match to the dominance that Maryville has had. Remember the days of Brentwood Academy? They won in every classification. That is what Maryville would be doing.

You may be correct. Riverdale might have knocked them out one of those years. Besides Riverdale none would have stopped Maryville. Not DB. Not Oak Ridge. (Honestly, Riverdale or DB would have been better to play last years 5A game than Oak Ridge.)And surely none this side of Viagra Beach, FL thinks Oak Ridge will reach the championship game in '06.

Maryville would win the 5A championship this year just as they would have last year. And if Oak Ridge couldn't get there but once or twice in 25 years hows it going to be easier having to play Maryville? Hurry Oak Ridge. Win one before Maryville goes 5A.

...thats interesting smart mouth...if db , and riverdale would have been a better choice than OR in the Championship game, then how how OR got into the title...HERES A REMINDER DB LOST IN THE FIRST ROUND AND RIVERDALE GOT THEY BUTTS HANDED TO THEM BY OR. WHY U SO SURE THAT MARYVILLE WILL DOMINATE IN 5A WHEN THEY HARDLY PLAY REAL 5A COMPETITION BESIDES WB, HERITAGE DOESNT COUNT AS THEY SHOULD BE A 1A SCHOOL

And just what exactly do you think Riverdale would be doing if they were in 4A?
