Saw this on another site, decided to bring it to the masses. Obviously most everyone is going to say the HC of their team, so OTHER THAN the HC of your team whats your top 5 HC to PLAY for, NOT to hire. Who's the best players coach?

In my opinion

1A. GQ(Maryville) Seen his team outplayed, yet to see them outcoached. Had a scout tell me that Maryville is better coached than some colleges.

1B. Gary Rankin(Alcoa)Built the best team on the highest stage of HS football. Make mistakes and his team will flat out grind you into the dirt under their cleats.

2.Scott Meadows(William Blount) Probably the master of the Wing-T in Tenn, would go down on the list if this was about hiring to run my program, but from a pure coaching standpoint there aren`t many better.

3.Steve Brewer(Sevier Co) Before some other schools opened up in the region, Sevier Co was the best, most talented, and best coached team in the state bar none. They were what Maryville is now.

4.Graham Clark(DB) Most fundamentally sound team in the East outside of Maryville. Best come from behind coach in the state IMO

5.Buck Coatney(Fulton) Great motivator, gets the very best out of his kids, and has the rings to prove it.

I think Danny Wilson at Cleveland is a fine coach. He won a championship at South Pittsburgh and then got Heritage headed in the right direction. Remember, he started out at Cleveland as an assistant, give him time and the Blue Raiders will be back-with another coach with Blount County connections.

Is this a KNOXVILLE area list??Meadows is not the master of the WING T. Benny Monroe perfected this offense in the early nineties at Cleveland. He coaches at Ooltewah now. He has to be in the top 3. I agree with Coach Quarles he is great. Tom Weathers who was at Red Bank for years and now at Soddy is great. Ron Addalot who I think is at Hillsboro?? He is great. Rankin is awesome. I don't think Danny Wilson can be included with this group lol If Cleveland is good this year it will be from pure tallent. Do some homework. Edited by lovehsfootball

I agree Wilson is a good coach but if he's still trying to use that

Wang- TEE thing vs todays quick Defences, Cleveland will stay home for the late rounds of the play offs.

Quarles- MHS

Woods - Morristown West

Stevens - Oak Ridge

Clark - DB

Gaylor - MHS

Are my faviorates to watch and the records are good. There are others as well but these 5 are tops around here.

How can you leave Mark Pemberton off this list since 2002 his overall record at Catholic is 40-9 and 5 of those losses came in his first year. They don't have the overall talent that any of these schools have, yet he wins with a pretty good system in place and kids who play their hind ends off for him. Excellent coach in my opinion who gets no respect. Before anyone says anything about the private schools there are some good teams in Division II look at any SEC roster and you'll find kids from Baylor, McCallie, BGA, Brentwood Acad., Briarcrest and so forth. Stanton Stevens does an incredible job as well.

    • I believe that was last year. I was interested in the Jones vs Baker comment, so I went back and looked at GC. I am not a fan of either nor am I a baseball guru. This looks like to me the duel was not close and if the errors would not have been made Eagleville would have won. I assume you are a little biased. I do think your mph for Jeffcoat and Baker must be from last year.  Baker-85 pitches 67 strikes. 5.2 innings, 5H, 1BB, 0ER and 7K's. 3 errors  Jones- 78 pitches 37 strikes. 4 innings, 2H, 5BB, 0ER and 1K. 1 error   Adams and the UH kid are really good as well. What about South Pitt and Oakdale? I heard they have some good ones.
    • I hate this for all the kids in the program and fans alike. I can't recall of anything like this before in my lifetime but I'm sure it isn't a first. After criminal investigations are complete and the TSSAA looks into this the program it will be facing Nuclear Winter for some time to come. It's always the innocent left behind that end up paying the price for something someone else has done. I'm sure the transfer portal will be very active in Clinton over the summer months. How could you find a good coach worth his salt that would take on a situation like this not knowing what will happen.
    • I’ve seen Jeffcoat in person twice and he was 84-87 both times and the one time I saw Baker he was low 80’s, he actually got out dueled by Jones from ER in that outing.
    • Pirate fans, thread is up on the baseball message board.
