Ravenwood vs. Brentwood Academy

I talked with a BA players dad and he said that BA has yet to play a good team in their scrimmages and one game. He said that their first real test might be Baylor, since they have a new coach, if not them then the team from Mississippi.

I'm not sure that BA will be tested all year. I would hope that they don't look past any team they play this year. BA has loads of talent but they also have a loaded schedule!

They'll be tested with that loaded schedule. That "4M" stretch of games - Meridian/McCallie/MUS/MBA - will all be tests, albeit to varying degrees.

DII-AAA is flat out balanced from top to bottom this year, perhaps with one or maybe two exceptions.

BA will get all the testing they can handle. It would not be the first time that MUS and MBA found a way to deal with talent. Having a lot of talent just improves your chances in DII.

I certainly wouldn't ignore Ravenwood and Baylor as tests either. They are the defending 5A Champions, currently ranked (AP) #3 5A team, and certainly have this game circled on their schedule. Baylor still has one of the best power running backs in the state, as our friends from MBA can attest to.

BA has Tyree Ford(runs a 10.2 100 yd) and Ryan White(who had 865 yds last year). Also they got Trent Caffee from Texas at QB. While Ravenwood really only has Becker, and he isn't a proven QB yet. And this being Flatt's last year, they might have got a few other players in since last year.

Has Flatt announced his retirement yet? How do you know he is leaving....?

BA-66

RHS-6

I expect to see Ba run over Ravenwood with no mercy. I am Expecting to see cleckner and laidlaw out with huge season ending injuries and ravenwoods season down the tube. sorry raptor fans but even though this isnt a district game after week 1 your season is all ready over.

Your right Laidlaw and Cleckner are out for the BA game (and maybe more games) so the "spread" should be in BA's favor, but by 60???? I'd take Ravenwood and 60 (or anyone else in the state) anytime.

I would guess that you predicted Ravenwood's demise last year when they lost their all-state middle LB, Daniel Becker. We know how that story played out.

BA & Flatt will score as often as possible. Don't forget that some of the Ravenwood players attended BA when they were younger and IMO Flatt will try to show them that they were wrong for leaving BA. Flatt also wants to make sure to win big so that the best Williamson County talent will continue to look at BA.

Wow, some of those theories are out there.

I feel certain that Coach Flatt will not try to run up the score on Ravenwood. He has a great relationship with the Ravenwood coach. Speaking of which, I think the Raptors are being sold short. They are well coached and should put up a formidable fight. I actually think that the "run up the score" issue will prove to be immaterial.

Which Ravenwood players went to BA?

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
