Giles Co. @ LIpscomb

People said the same thing before Giles played Ensworth (private vs. public) and Giles won that one. I'll have to put my faith in Giles Co. it's been along time since these guys have been in the position they are in now and I don't believe that they will just let someone walk in and just take it away without a good fight. They have just focused on the game at hand all year and haven't overlooked any opponet so far. They know DL will be their biggext game to date and I'm sure they will bring their A-game plus alittle extra to Nashville friday night. I believe it will be a close game but Giles Co. will prevail. GOOOOO BOBCATS.

i know giles had some close games this year,...who were those games played against?

Just for reference I posted the schedule thus far for both teams. They seem to be pretty well matched and this looks to be one of the best games of the year so far. I still have to go with Giles County.

The close games you are referring to were Spring Hill and Ensworth. But you have to keep in mind Sam Edgemon was hurt in these two games, regardless the team stepped up and got the wins.

Great opportunity for both teams on Friday night to showcase their hardwork that both teams and coaching staffs have put forth this season. There will be only one scoreboard winner walk off the field on Friday night; but two teams with winning attitudes and positive outlooks for the playoffs will walk off together. This game has the potential to be one of the greatest games in middle Tennessee this year.

Forget all the public vs. private yak-yak . . . enjoy the young men, bands, cheerleaders, fans playing in a great high school match-up!

Best of luck to both teams and staffs. And safe travel for the fans.

I know that both schools will bring good football teams to the game, but if we want to enjoy a band at halftime, i hope Giles County brings one since Lipscomb cannot....evidently the Lipscomb band was put on double secret probation at the end of the last football season, and has not been seen since.

i don't think that giles has played anyone as good as goodpasture. i think playing them early has given lipscomb an advantage over these other teams.

Giles has played two pretty good teams in Mt. Pleasant and Ensworth.

Both teams beat Page by the exact same score I believe. Their margains of victory against Cheatham Co. were fairly even (Edgmon did not play against the Cubs). Now Lipscomb hammered Spring Hill while Giles struggled to beat the Raiders.

Giles still has to play Creek Wood while Lipscomb still has to play Mont. Cent. (who Giles beat 60-6). Both teams also have Marshall Co. remaining on their schedules :thumb:

I Haven't seen giles county this year, but Lipscomb put 42 points on Creekwood in just the first half....played young players in second half. They put 41 points on Cheatham County in the first half, and 28 points on Spring Hill in the first half. Their offense has been dominating !! They probably could have scored 60 or more points in all of these games with their starters.

That's a comment that sounds like it was meant to get something started. Giles Co. won't play that game. They know what they have to do and where they have to keep their minds and its not on comments like that. The score on friday night will tell the tale. And all the talk that's just what it is talk. A positive additude is a good thing being cocky is not!

Go Bobcats!

    • Jada Hart, Jasmine Bailey and Kaitlyn Patterson the first two being PG's are all good guards and can handle ball pressure and are good players. Raven Wells will be a good post. There were games this summer where any one of the one's I mentioned were in double figures. Gibson County will control TO's much better this year and they will press more and get back to playing faster. AA is down across the board. I have been all over watching ball. Alcoa jumped to AAA and Jackson County moved down. to A. No telling who wins it this year. I agree Union City, Westview and Gibson County will be a dogfight and must see basketball. Poster insuated that Gibson County has a mental block against Westview. Well give me Maddie Gray and we line up last year and they wouldn't have won a game. Let's see how Westview does this year. Their starting five last year had three transfers in it. Rogers from Obion, Trevathon from Greenfield and Gray from South Fulton. Looks like they swung and missed with the girl from Florida this year so let's see how they do playing with kids from Westview. Gibson County has a really good 7th grade class this year.I have done learned you play with what you got and work them hard and develop them and see what happens. Just keep battling and see what happens. I like our team this year. Very athletic. Every year is the same with injuries and can be catistrophic to any. I watched GC all summer long. South Side and GC was very evenly matched and was a classic war. Hope all stays healthy.
    • I think Gibson County is a top five team this next season but I do agree they will drop off a lot after this year.  Westview lost a ton and will be down this season and hopes of returning to glass house again is slim.  The run they have had is super impressive!
    • My take on GC for this year: Based on what I saw last year and heard this summer, I’m not sure GC could surprise me next year with any outcome. Wilkins is a great coach - they could win the district and region and go to Murfreesboro. They could also come in third in the district and not get out of region. The two returning starters are very talented but Guru is right that they didn’t always play hard last year. The other three starters are good enough in their roles for GC to be successful. There is no depth. Foul trouble could be a problem - Wilkins may avoid it by playing a lot of zone. An injury would be catastrophic. I hope they have a big year and Wilkins rides off into the sunset in Murfreesboro because, without some significant transfers, there are some tough years coming in the next few.
    • Daniel Boone coming down to 3A makes this much tougher. They added a couple transfers to the Flores girl. Cocke Co, Northview, Greeneville, and Daniel Boone - only two headed to Murfreesboro.
