DJ REDALERT @ 97 KISS FM, What's up? The era I played in.... I think they still had baskeeeetballs (Buck) with laces. Good guards do come from DB, the best being Skip Brown hands down. Cody is good, but I think his play is best in football. Heck! Almost the whole family had football blood running in their veins. You would have had fun playing against Cody's father, Kim. He could play! even though Buck would tell all of us that we couldn't "put one in the Ocean."

I think Omar will do fine at Georgetown. He will have to make the most adjustments to staying disciplined with his "down" time. Most people from this area that do not make it, fail because they are not used to being own their own and no one holding their hand to make sure their work is done and they make it to class EVERYDAY!!!!! You have lots of freedom, in part because you are an adult. But!!! That freedom comes at a price that can be costly if not managed right. Congrats again to all of the athletes furthering their education and GOD BLESS!!!!

"Wicky, Wicky, Wicky, Wicky...."

You are right about the "down time". Georgetown is one of the best parts of the D.C. area. Probably has the most sophisticated night life of any college town I have been to. These small town boys will need to be extremely disciplined in such a foreign environment. Fortunately, Omar has shown that kind of discipline throughout his high school career. Let's hope it holds up under the temptations of the big city.

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
