I am a part of one lucky family in terms of legendary Tennessee HS coaches--I played for Coach Owen at MBA, and my dad played for Coach Smith at Springfield. My favorite part about this is how much respect Coach Owen had for Coach Smith. He could talk for hours about some of the match-ups they had early in his (Coach Owen's) career. Both among the true giants of coaching in TN!

WOW! What are the odds of a father & son playing for two of the greats in HS football.

Itzme is right. No way a seasoned recruiter like Flatt would use such a method.

I dont apreciate being called stupid 1st of all; not the guy I am quoting but ithzme. The next thing is that it was like in 1994 and it was in broshure form. The kid showed me the thing, you are right though he is a "seasoned" recruiter.....

For the record, I called your post stupid, not you. I don't even know you. I'll stand by my statement, and now it seems you are modifying your post. I rest my case.

Ted B Wilson.

Coach Wilson coached at Maryville High School and Kingsport Dobyns Bennett. Coach Wilson was the greatest motivator I ever seen. He is a lot like Bruce Pearl. Coach Wilson won 84% of his games in a 15 year period. His record was 146-27. He is the man who started the Maryville dynasty. He had great success at Dobyns Bennett. He also led Maryville to state titles in 1970,1976 and 1978. He is also 2-0 against the great Carlton Flatt.

Maryville has named the stadium after former mayor Stanley Skeeter Shields. They named the training facility after Don Story. They named the field after Jim Renfro. Maryville needs to do something for Ted Wilson.

Ted Wilson should also be in the TSSAA Hall of Fame.

ken colquette hands down is the best coach in tennessee history. anyone can win at brentwood academy. they get to pretty much recrute their players. colquette has won where every he goes. what about the marion dynasty. he went to grundy a turned around that program in the matter of week and had 4 winning seasons. and won the first region title for them in the history of the school. if he was still there they compete for the region championship every year. i mean they are great coaches out there but colquette didnt have as much to work with as the other coaches.

I have to agree, he is one of the best. I played against him at Bledsoe and he was hard to beat. Always had his team ready.
