Mets take game 1,by a score of 2-0.

Both starters pitched well. Weaver looks like his productivity starts going down at about 85 pitches. Beltran is a thorn in the Cards side. Mets caught every break. Cards hit some hard balls, but always right at someone.

 

Big game tonight. If the Cards can leave NY tied at 1, I honestly like their chances. If they go down 2-0 though, the series might as well be over.

Need to shake some bats loose, get 2 W's from Carpenter and 2 from Suppan, and have the suddenly respectable Jeff Weaver to open WS. Looks more doable now than 2 weeks ago. As Joaquin used ot say, youneverno

Yes I agree a huge win for the Cardinals, they were staring 2-0 in the face, but rallied to win....

Supp showed up, and to be honest, the Mets looked dead last night. Here's hoping Reyes has it in him tonight.....

Yes.. the Mets pitching staff took another blow last night, when Steve Trachsel went out of the game, after a line drive hit him....

And the bullpen finally sprung a leak.....

 

I thought they pulled Reyes an inning to early. It was probably danged if you do, danged if you don't with who they had coming up to bat in the 5th, but Reyes had been all right and I still have more faith in him than the pullpen.

 

Offensively, the Cards 1-2 hitters have got to be more effective. Those two positions are probably batting a combined .100 right now.
