Coach Bashing

So what do you think is Coach Bashing? Is it someone that just questions what a Coach does like not going for it on forth and 1 , Going in shotgun on the 5 with 1st and goal and having to kick a field goal , Not Passing the ball or Running the ball enough or is it Someone that calls the Coach a complete idiot, moron and says that he has to go.

 

Everyone is going to question what a Coach does especially when it doesn't work or when it isn't working and this goes from Flag football to the Pros. It should be something they are use to and if they are not use to it they better get there or get out of the business. As for taking it one step further I understand and you need to watch what you say here and actually more on the field because I don't see elementary and middle school kids reading this but they do hear it at the games.

As I said on another post, this is the worst place a coach should be on the internet whether a winner or a loser. Every coach gets bashed at one time or another and if the coach can't handle it, he/she is in the wrong business.

Wanted to reinforce this statement to my man Trott. Coward, I am not and yes, I have done what you call 'bash' but not thread after thread. Its all been said.

Well I suppose we are all Guilty and you can get on ESPN and several other National televised shows and see Coach and Player bashing as it is called but we can talk civilized and discuss problems that our teams have here I would hope and if you cannot be civilized then you need to not be here. Have you not heard the bashers in the stands at a football game yelling? I guess they would not be considered cowards........... because they are doing it in front of God and everyone.......But I have another word for them.

Obviously you don't read Maryville threads. GQ gets all the credit, which he deserves, daily. Riverdale, Alcoa and many others praise the coaches. I bet you're one of the same people who smashes "The Great Pumpkin" every chance he gets. LOL ......I think some of the bashing is from people who see a lack of effort and preparation and no action to correct it and get fed up. Expressing your opinion is your right and as long as it's not slander it's perfectly legal.

One of the things I've always found interesting on these boards, is when a team is victorious, everyone for/on the winning team talks about their great running backs, fine quarterback, out-standing defense, consistent kicker, but never much about the coach and his assistants who put the game plan together.

 

Yet, let those two same teams play again, with the former winning team now the loser, all everyone talks about is how bad the head coach has become.

 

As a moderator, it gets hard at times to determine/define what "bashing" is. I think it is kinda like pornography, I know it when I see/read it. I think the "fans" have a right to complain, take out some frustration, but to do so in a civilizied manner.

 

Ya'll give them coaches some props, win or lose.

I have not been a moderator for over a year.

I asked Coach T to remove me from the position.

Two reasons: one, I would "remove" every thread

that bashed a coach; and two, I wanted to say what

I wanted to say in a post.

 

It became obvious what I thought was bashing was not

considered bashing by Coach T and other Mods. I didn't

like the temptation of being able to remove a thread, so

I removed myself from the position. These are not my

board, nor is this my website. Unless I’m asked to leave,

I will voice my opinion.

 

Anyone who goes on and on, thread after thread bashing a

coach is a coward. Some of these cowards are in this thread

justifying/rationalizing their yellow streaks.

 

If you are too thin-skinned to handle being called a

coward, then you can obviously dish it out, but not

take it.

 

Imagine how a coach feels who has to hear about some

crackpot posting on Coach T about him. People know who

the coach is, but they don’t know who you crackpots are.

 

If you are not a coward, then POST YOUR NAME the next

time you bash a coach. Prove that I am wrong.

 

If you want to talk to a coach, post your name and phone number,

and ask the coach to give you a call. If you don’t want to talk to

him, then what are you?

Just kidding. If people don't want to use their name that is their perogative. I came on here a few years ago and used my name, Gary Smith, but no one else was using thier real name. I re-registered with the name I went by in high school.......GLee. I'd give my phone # but........ I will give you an email address

I know I've been bashed when I coach. So what, because I do what I feel is right for the team when I coach and we have been somewhat successful. It is part of the game......you know, bashing. I understand that and accept it for what it is, an opinion.

I certainly don't feel that the bashers were cowards and they never came to me personally.

 

There you go Stan and it's not the first time I have posted my entire name. Earlier this season I had one of your so-called cowards work my kid and myself over and I knew who it was but he wouldn't own up to his work as I do. What do you have under the covers?

Then I suppose you are more disappointed than anyone. I along with many others expected Betsy to be a real threat at the beginning of the season.

 

I suppose we can learn a lot from your words. I have seen many from Betsy complain and tear into this year and I really can understand because you expected more.

 

He is a good QB and I wish him luck the rest of the season and at the next level if he wants to play. Let us know if he does play after Highschool and where.

On coach bashing if his family isn't included or players named... wear him out if he deserves it. Who decides that is anybody's guess. I just don't care anymore and I think nearly everybody else agrees. Forget this subject and let's move on.

Hey Stan, maybe you had better think before you go on here "bashing" other people yourself. You said that we didn't have the guts to go talk to the coach face to face. Since you brought it up, I'm going to share my experience with you.

 

Our son was being harassed by his own team members, over and over again. After giving the coach adequate time to take care of this, we went to him out of respect for our son. To our face, he promised that he would take care of the situation. Unfortunately, the players involved were in the starting line-up each week and that never happened.

 

The end result? Our son was unable to take any more and out of self defense was forced to turn in his equipment. He spent his senior year watching the team that he loved from the student section. The coach hasn't spoken to my family in 2 years.

 

Now you tell me, WHO'S THE COWARD???
