Coaches meet last week to decide. Don’t know the results; they keep it in their back pocket.

Hey Rookie45, you now have a future Alumni in Isaiah Smith. Congratulations

Somehow, I don’t remember him when he played Ravenwood. I didn’t recall any spectacular player as well as last year when Coger went to Alabama. My judge of talent must be real poor. The only player I’ve seen so far this year as a pure standout, can’t miss D1 prospect is Scott Jordon of BA.

I saw NO D1 caliber players on that Columbia squad. Again, like rapbwood stated, maybe I am just horrible at judging D1 type talent..but I doubt it!

Did not see it in Coger last year and certainly did not see it in Smith this year.

Of course..look at where he is heading..Ole Miss. Guess they will take whomever thay can get right now! Certainly cannot blame the Smith kid for jumping on an offer though!

I saw most of the Region 6 5A teams play this year...did not notice many D1 types on the field for any team. Did you guys?

smith could have went to tennessee but the chances of playing at ole miss were better while you are running your trap. he is ranked 46 nationally at middle linebacker according to scout.com. ole miss's recruiting class 2007 is in the top 10 so they just dont pick up everyone. when it is all said and done they both( coger, smith) are d1 while you're just a fan. there is nothing else to say. lets get back on the topic please.

ol' c-town trying to talk smack. Hmm, he thinks he knows D1 talent. . .but has a miserable track record when it comes to 6-5A projections of talent. Sounds like a FAN to me. Overall, not much in the way of bigtime D1 talent. Lots of DII and DIII, but they don't get noticed because they don't get the scholly. You would be stunned to see a list of all the players in this region over the years who signed with someone -and then quit after a year or two.

As far as who gets picked on these teams, the higher ranked teams get the most players- the last place team gets one.

No reflection on "talent", just who gets the awards. I think it would be intriguing to select the coach of the year award, and each teams nomination for player of the year.

State the case for each coach (playoff makers only are candidates) and a case for your player.

Thanks for helping clear up that unfortunate misconception of Ole Miss (my alma mater) up. For the record they only started two Seniors this year in Oxford and have the talent coming in now. Jury is still out on the head coach

Don't know why you'd put Becker over Cordell. Becker was hurt the first part of the year and Cordell almost singlehandedly reversed the fortunes for Indy. Also, I don't know why you don't have McLemore as one of your DBs. He finished the year with 8 interceptions. Also, George is actually a DT and how you didn't include Casey Dykes I will never know.

    • Eagleville hosting shows laziness on the part of the TSSAA and a complete disregard for the appearance of impartiality. Absolutely nothing against EHS. Its not their fault TSSAA is lazy.    I understand EHS staff work the games at Eagleville, and they don’t want to miss the EHS games. However this isn’t rocket science. It would take less than 1 hour to cross-train EHS and RHS volunteers at the opposite sites. If Eagleville (or any host)  makes the tournament, flip their game site and have the volunteers flip sites for the days their school plays at the opposite site. Magically the school’s fans would be present to watch the their kids play and the kids at least lose some familiarity and home field advantage.  It takes almost no effort and is a ~15 minute extra drive.
    • We feel the pain!
    • Jason Lambert should be the only choice for the Baseball coaching position.
    • From the stats I found online it looks like Gabe Eddington- .484, 44 total hits, 43 runs scored and 42 stolen bases.Meanwhile, on the mound, the Austin Peay commit had a record of 8-2, while compiling 50 innings pitched with an ERA of 1.82. Carson Parrott - 7-0 overall as a starting pitcher with a 1.41 ERA, 95 strikeouts and a save in 53 and 1/3 innings pitched. Parrott hit .392 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs with a .566 OBP and .716 SLG. Jaxon Walker - .454, 53 hits, 38 RBI’s, 9 HRs.   Not saying the other three aren’t deserving but Quillen had better BA than all three and was just as dominate pitching.  Like I said I don’t know how you leave off the 3a Baseball player of the year last year when he put up better numbers.  I know Greeneville’s Coach wasn’t happy about it saying “I don’t give a s*** what anybody else says. That kid is the best player in Tennessee, and everybody else on our team rises to his level“.  I’m sure winning another State Championship as a junior is more important to Carson than the individual award, it’s just a head scratcher to not be nominated
